CHS Class of 1953-55th Year Reunion Classmates, In preparing for the recent reunion, we were saddened to learn about the passing of another classmate. Now, a total of 56 are deceased, with 18 quickly gone since our 50th reunion. Our 55th reunion activities this past weekend kept attendees moving from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Maybe too much for some and very tiring for others, but we had good attendance for each gathering. Starting with the lunch at Steak n Shake for early birds on Friday, we had a very surprising total of about 20 people. We did not see anybody cruising the parking lot....if they were, they were looking for a parking space. Friday evening, a total of 57 gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn for the reception. Saturday we started at 11:00 a.m. at the Virginia Theatre for a walking tour of the theatre, a reception with finger food and a Matinee movie with popcorn and candy, which entertained a total of 42. Then, the main event for 86 total was at the Champaign Country Club Saturday evening. Many classmates were slowing down by this time and were ready to relax with a sit-down dinner. The program was short and no class picture was taken. All headed out the door by 10:00 p.m. Sunday morning breakfast started at 7:00 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Grill for 24 total saying farewell. In review, this reunion was well received by all...and we will strive for a 60th. Stay healthy. The attendance by classmates is a true measure of a successful reunion.
