Hi, my name is Kenny and I want to share our family album and story with you. I was born and raised in a small town in Mississippi.
I still live near my birthplace and married Becky, my high school sweetheart. I was in the Boy Scouts and received my
Eagle and God and Country Award. I rode my first motorcycle when I was fourteen and got my first bike shortly thereafter, a new
Aermacchi
Harley-Davidson Sprint made in Italy. It was a really nice Italian
motorcycle with a displacement of 250 c.c. One year later I got my first Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 c.c. and was averaging over two thousand miles per
month.
Over the years I have collected Harley racing posters and other collectibles.
I would be interested in selling the posters but only for
a really good price. The Cal Rayborn poster celebrates the
last Harley-Davidson win at Daytona and includes the photo in the
Enthusiast and I was there! I am a big Buell fan and attended the 1st annual
Buell Homecoming on my Buell S-1 Lightning.....rode it all the way
up there with my bag on the rear seat. I now own a Harley-Davidson FXDXT Super Glide, a Buell S1, a BMW R1100S, two new Rickman 250's in the crate, and one new '73 Norton Commando Roadster 850 still in the original CRATE.
After graduating from Mississippi State University I joined the United
States Navy and was attached to Fighter Squadron Eleven (VF-11) onboard
the USS Forrestal. My wife joined me for a few weeks of leave starting in Spain and then England (where I bought a BSA 250 c.c. and toured England). I came home from the Navy in 1972 and worked for my father in our family business, Brett Wholesale Grocery.
I opened a part time motorcycle shop (Ken's Cycle Shop) in 1972 and sold Norton, Jawa/CZ, and Indian bikes for a few years. I have met many nice people who love Norton bikes. I look forward to uncrating my Norton and riding it soon. I rode an identical bike to Canada and a few Daytona Speed Week events.
We adopted my daughter, Melinda, who is now attending Mississippi State University. She is the fourth generation of Brett's to attend Miss. State. This is her picture:
She has a straight 'A' average and is considering international business for her major. She is in the Tri-Delta sorority and was
in charge of the 2002 Homecoming float.
The day we picked her up at the airport in Memphis was the happiest day of my life! She had flown all the way from Seoul, South Korea and still had a great big smile for me as I held her in my arms. Both sets of grandparents were there and it was Becky's birthday. She was only three months old. She has been a straight 'A' student all of her life. My favorite bands are the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix's favorite song was 'Little Wing'. I also like the Beatles, Paul Simon and many others. I am a Baby Boomer and love music from the sixties and seventies! Becky is a Motown fan. I have been to two Rolling Stone concerts in Memphis, the first at Liberty Bowl stadium and the second at the Pyramid. The open stadium was the best. That tour used three million watts of music power and three million watts of lighting power.
