THIS IS THE STORY OF BOKU

It all started many years ago, I was just 6 when I moved to America from Vietnam. As with many people who imigrated to the United States, My family had little money and spoke very little english. We had to rely on my grandparents, whom had imigrated earlier, to get on our feet. With twenty dollars in his pocket and little else, my father was determined to make it here in America. Our family moved here in search of liberty and was in the pursuit of happiness for a better life, a freer life. At first, my father found a job as a dishwasher at the Empress of China, a restuarant he would later own, my grandparents lived near the restuarant and because a car was unavailable to him, my dad had to walk to work. He worked day and night, and in the winter time, he had to walk in the cold to work. Life was hard, I was just a little child then, I was somewhat sheltered from the hardships by my grandparents and the love of my parents. With little progress made at his work and a future uncertain, my dad had doubts that pushed his mind towards the thoughts of giving up and return to Vietnam. He did not give up, my dad has a strong will and I am glad that he does, We stayed. He then found a better paying job at a textile company. My mother and he got jobs there. They pay was not great but it was enough to make ends meet with a little left over to save. My parents soon moved out of my grandparents home. They were now independent people. It was a proud day for them, a couple and their young son, starting with little more than nothing has achieved a sense of accomplishment. We lived in a small apartment for a couple of years, then my parents with what is now a steady job and enough savings, decided to buy a house. About the same time, they bought the restuarant my dad once worked so hard for. My father kept his job at the Textile company and the restuarant was a supplement to our family's income since he was not sure if the business would work. He would work for textiles and my mother would run the Restuarant. Life for us got better as our lives made progress. My brother was born when I was 8 years old. I was 15 years old when my parents had their third bundle of joy, Jennifer was born last year. My dad had always wanted a girl. Jennifer was born into a rooted family that can provide her with the love and milk. I am happy for Jennifer, she never had to go through what I had to go through. A young girl who is the joy of my family. We love her.
