Paul Bettany was born in raised in London. His father is Thane Bettany (also an actor). His mother is a secretary (name?), and he has one older sister. He trained at the Drama Centre in London. He first appeared on stage in the West End production of "An Inspector Calls," after which he spent a season with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Some other appearances of his include "One More Wasted Year" and "Stranger's House".

Bettany first appeared on the big screen in Bent. After that he appeared in various movies and television series (see Filmography). However, Paul Bettany has received the most publicity in two of his recent movies; one in the 2000 British film "Gangster No. 1" and the other in his 2001 American film alongside of Heath Ledger, "A Knight's Tale".

Next up is a role along side of Oscar winning Russell Crowe in "A Beautiful Mind". While Russell Crowe will no doubt be in the spotlight, Paul Bettany will only turn more heads with his brilliant acting skills.
