ìJustice and Willie Nelsonî
by Jack Hayslett
The Atchison Enquirer
ìLibertyî Justice
realized one of his lifetime dreams Wednesday night. The Raytown, Missouri,
singer - songwriter, riding along with my friend B.J., went down to Lawrence,
Kansas with the specific intent of meeting country legend Willie Nelson
and attending the Willie Nelson Family Concert. Not only did Liberty
meet Willie, he actually (NO BS) played a song for him and visited with
Nelson for nearly a quarter-hour in the WNF Tour Bus after the Concert.
Willie and Liberty, for those not aware - and few are aware, actually
played together once back in 1954 when a young (19) Liberty was the ìStarî
and Willie the ìRelatively Unknown Local Yokel.î It was at a West - Texas
bar called the ìYellow Dog Saloonî that Jerome (Jerry - aka ëGeronimoí)
Justice entertained nightly when a only - slightly - older Nelson asked
to sit in. The ìYellow Dogî is still a fond memory for Nelson.
In reminincing the old times, Liberty sang and played for Willie his
original song named for the old Honky - Tonk. ìOld Yellow Dog Bit Me, Againî
was the song, apparently enjoyed by the Texas Legend who had just completed
another outstanding performance at KUís Lied Center Auditorium. Willie
now has some of Libertyís tapes, and Liberty still has hopes of recording
someday at Nelsonís Studio near Luck, Texas.
It is refreshing to note that Americaís top Country Legend would take
time to visit with a ìcommonerî our Hobo Troubadour.

Olí Yellow Dog Bit Me Again
by Geronimo ìLibertyî Justice
Been workiní all week just for Friday
I thought it would never get here.
I cashed my check at the old Yellow Dog
I bought me a bottle of beer.
One beer just called for another,
Now Iíve gone and done it again.
Canít put one foot in front of the other,
Old Yellow Dog bit me again.
(chorus)
Old Yellow Dog bit me again,
My wifeís at home waitiní I know
Maybe sheíll let me back in.
But, Iíll spend all week eatiní crow.
Just stopped for one drink with the fellers
Now look at the shape that Iím in.
Sheíll know where Iíve been,
I wonít have to tell ëer,
Old Yellow Dog bit me again.
Iíll coast my car in the driveway,
Quitely sneak thru the door
Iíll do my best not to wake ëer
The way that I wokeír before.
Last night she gave me a warniní
She was swinginí her olí rolliní pin.
Iíll bet my headís gonna hurt in the morniní
Old Yellow Dog bit me again.
Repeat chorus.
