The French Revolution - Try this site for a summary of the French Revolution and related information. The format for this site is an easy to follow outline.

The French Revolution of 1789 - Here you will find links to information and documents you will find helpful. There is also a picture of a guillotine on the homepage.

 


Where can I find related historical documents?

Documents - The Internet Modern History Sourcebook contains links to various topics and documents that will help you study one aspect of the revolution in detail.

Napoleon and Art - If you are looking for artwork depicting Napoleon Bonaparte, this is the place! Here you will find many popular paintings and some that are relatively rare.

Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen - At this site you can read a modern English translation of the document approved by the National Assembly of France on August 26, 1789.

French Revolutionary Pamphlets - Click on the tab "Guide to French Revolutionary Pamphlets". These pamphlets are important primary source documents. Caution: You will need to translate from the original French.
