Tyler is an 11 year old boy who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was 4 years old.
In Duchenne, muscle cells don't have any glue (Dystrophin) to hold them together. So the muscle cells die and then the person can't move anymore. The glue is gone because something is wrong with the X-chromosome. They call it a gene and it happens mostly to boys.
In the beginning Tyler could walk and stairs were just hard. He fell a lot though. But, he isn't able walk anymore and has to stay in a wheelchair. By the time he gets to be a teenager, even his arms will stop working and he will need help for just about everything. It will even get harder for him to breathe because those muscles get tired too. He will get sick a lot... He might even have to say goodbye to his family and friends before he turns 20.
