The Thespian Society
The Thespian Society is an international honor society for high school students who are involved in all aspects of the theatre. Once you become a member you will start receiving Dramatics Magazine. This is a wonderful theatre magazine filled with interviews, plays, acting information, school information , summer theatre programs and technical articles.
Ê
At the end of June the National Thespian Society hosts a week-long festival in the middle of the country. High school groups perform plays and scenes plus there are all kinds of workshops for students. We have not participated in this because it is in Nebraska and the cost is quite high. But, perhaps in the future we might want to make this a goal for the theatre company.
Ê
In order to become a member and maintain your membership, you must you must complete 100 hours of work in the theatre per year. The secretary of the company will keep track of the total hours for each show, but you must keep track of your own personal hours. At the end of the year, we will all meet and discuss hours and those students who are eligible will pass in a listed total of hours/jobs per show. Induction will be held at the Fine Arts Banquet in June.
