Sharon High School Theatre CompanyOne Act Fine Arts Festival Week![]() Two Precious Maidens Ridiculed Visit the Official Drama Guild Web Site The Massachusetts One Act Play Festival is an event that the Sharon High Theatre Company has always been a participant. Over the past 10 years we have presented the following plays:
Auditions are usually held in December for the one act play for competition as well as the children's play. You can be cast in only one of those shows. If you are interested in participating either on stage or off stage for the one act play you must be available during February vacation. You can not audition for the competition play if you go are going away during February vacation. We rehearse at the end of the vacation: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is a big commitment and one you should discuss with your family. You must also be available the full weekends of the preliminary, semi-final and final dates. There are no exceptions! It is an exciting aspect of the theatre company. The preliminaries are held the Saturday after February vacation. We usually travel to another school (Brockton, Weymouth, Case or Durfee High School) and participate in a full day of meeting students from 7 schools and watching their play as well as presenting our own. After watching the plays, we then wait and wait! During this time, the host school usually has a dance or pizza party. There are two judges who determine who the three schools are that will continue on to semi-finals. During the awards ceremony, the judges hand out awards for acting, set, lighting, costume design and play writing. We have been very fortunate to have received many of these awards. So if you are free February vacation and are committed to this intense theatre experience, plan to audition. If you are not cast in this show, you can participate in the technical end of the production. Don't throw away the experience just because you didn't get a part. We need people to design sets and costumes, run the lights and sound, and move the set on and off. Plus, we need your enthusiasm!
