JOY!
There is a Joy that comes from only one place. The Joy I'm speaking of comes from God.

There are times in our lives sometimes that we allow that Joy to depart from us. When this happens, it is not God's fault as so many say. Our Joy is gone when WE depart from God's will, or we choose to not do what God's will is for our life.

I read a Church sign the-other-day that said, "When you have a choice to make and you do not make it, that is a choice.". That reminds me that there are times in our lives that we think that just because we haven't "decided" what to do yet in a given situation, that we have not departed from God's will. Well, I have to tell you something, that's not so. When we elect not to make the choice, we are still in disobedience to our Heavenly Father. We can make all the excuses that we want to, but, we are still not in God's will and, when in that state, we can "feel" that our Joy has departed.

We also can feel ever so lonely. God does not leave us, but, oh, so many times we "choose" not to choose to do what God has for us to do, and it hurts. We may not realize how much it hurts until we do finally make our choice, then there is such great release and relief from a burden we may not have even realized we were carrying.

Not only does it hurt us, but, I imagine it hurts God. Think of a time that your child did something that "broke your heart" or that you saw was destroying them, and remember the love you have for that child, and though you do not like their choice, you weep and mourn for what that child is going through, and for what that child is doing. I know that our Heavenly Father, being who He is, has a greater love than ours and I know that I must really break His heart so many times when I either don't choose(which is really a choice), or I choose the wrong thing, or way.

He also is faithful and just to forgive us. A child of God can not stay out of His will for too very long, for it is sadness to be away from Him, it is great sadness, and confusion. I thank God that He loves us as He does, and forgives our sins.

May God richly bless you all, may His sweet peace and wondrous love always be seen in all you say and do, may your hearts be filled with the peace that passeth all understanding, may His Joy completely fill you, and may you always be found, centered upon His will, in the hollow of His hand,

Sherry

Trust God
Trust God
Verse 1

Like the sheep who fully trusts his life to the shepherd

If only we would trust God this way.

For Jesus is the good shepherd

And, He gave His life for His sheep to save.

But, We don?t rely on Our Shepherd,

As the sheep rely on theirs each day.

Oh how much our lives would be better,

If each day we trusted God more that way.

Chorus:

When troubles and trials come across our way,

May we speak Jesus? name in Faith.

Like the sheep that bleats for his master,

We should trust God in that same way.

No, HE doesn?t want for His sheep to fear,

He wants us to know that He?s always near,

Just call Jesus? name, He?s always the same,

He?ll reach out and wipe away your tear.

In Christ,

New Year?s
New Year?s

We have arrived at yet another ?New Year?. I find it hard to believe that 2004 is gone, there was so much that I meant to do in 2004 that I have left undone. A New Year means different things to each and every one of us, I?m sure. To me, it means that I have another chance to reach out and tell someone else about Christ who was born and who died for our sins. It means that I have the chance to tell that friend, family member or co-worker that today is the day of salvation and that for any one of us, tomorrow may never come. It means that I have the chance to actually do that, and not just ?intend to?. By the way, tomorrow doesn?t ever really come, because, by the time what you called tomorrow yesterday arrives, it already is today.

This New Year means I have another chance to call someone that ?I?ve been meaning to? call. It means that I can take the time to visit someone that ?I?ve been meaning to? visit. It means that I have been blessed with another chance to listen to someone who just ?needs an ear?. Each year many folks start out with what are called ?New Years Resolutions?, and by mid-February, those resolutions have fast become a ?good intention?. It?s not that we didn?t mean well by what we ?resolved? to do in the new year, it?s because we just can?t seem to find the time to follow through with them. Or, maybe we set our goals too high. Well, several years ago, I quit making New Years Resolutions, because I knew that I would not follow through with them. Instead of New Years Resolutions, I ask God each day for the knowledge wisdom and strength to do His will that day. I ask for God to bless me with the ability to see the need in other folks? lives that I might serve them as humbly as Christ served His disciples in washing their feet. I ask God for all that I need to be the wife, mother, daughter, niece, aunt, cousin, or friend that would be honoring to Him. I mainly ask for what I need to be the God honoring child of His that I should be. So as we start this New Year, I hope that we all ask God what He would have us do each and every day, and how we can honor Him more as this year go on. Mostly I hope and pray that not only do we ask those things, but, that we DO those things. The following is a poem/song that I wrote a few years ago, it speaks of our many ?Good Intentions?.

Good Intentions

Life is filled with good intentions flowing from our souls.
Good intentions through our minds and bodies flow.
God did not intend for there; only to be; good intentions in our lives.
We must act on our intentions, and fill some soul with light, or our good intentions,
may condemn our souls.

Chorus:
Good intentions, man?s inventions
I don?t have time, that?s much too far to go
God had time to send His son and let Him die to rise again,
So our souls would not be condemned.
If God had only good intentions then where would be our souls,
when our time on earth has ended and to eternity gone?
Good intentions will not a soul enlighten.
Good intentions will not a smile bring.
Good intentions are only man?s inventions.
Don?t let good intentions condemn your heart and soul.

Sherry Griffin

May God richly bless and keep each and every one of us, may His sweet peace and wondrous love forever dwell within all our hearts, may that peace and love always be seen and heard in all we do and say, may each of us ask God what we can do for Him each and every day, may 2005 be the ?best year? of all our lives, and may we measure that through what we?ve done for God and not what He does for us, may we always be found, centered upon His will, in the hollow of His hand, and may we never forget that that is where He is keeping each and every one of us who are His.

I want to wish a Happy Mother's Day,
To all the Mother's who happen this way.

I have a Mother, only she is no longer here with me, I know where she is, and that thought fills me with glee.

Yes I miss Momma, what a great lady was she, but, I know that she is where, some day I know I'll be.

My Momma taught me about Jesus, and what He did for me.

She taught me at an early age that He died upon that tree.

She taught me while I was very young, that He died for even me.

I knew so much about Jesus, when I was only three.

She has two children, that sat upon her knee.

She now has grandsons, count them, one, two, three.

Oops, let's not forget that step grandson, whom she loved as her own and who filled her heart with glee.

She had her husband, until I was nine, he was a wonderful Daddy to me.

She never remarried and not quite alone she raised my brother and me.

She depended on God, and her faith was strong I could see.

She was such a great Christian for me to follow you see.

You may have a child who has strayed away, I believe they will come back again someday.

They have your witness, before their eyes, and they know that knowing Christ would be very wise.

Your children may not seem to care, but, I know they do, though they may not show it anywhere.

Pray for them, I know you do, and have faith that God will show them what do.

There may be Mothers here, who have not given birth, nor have even adopted a child here on this earth.

But, they have "children" who have adopted them, and probably can never tell them in mere words of their true worth.

I started this out, to tell of my Momma and some of what she means to me. I'm ending here to let you know, that though she has gone home, she still is a blessing to me. Through the guidance she gave while here on earth, and God's putting them before me, I have been able to find "Other Mother's" who did not to me give birth, but, still mean so much to me.

God bless you all and may His sweet peace and wondrous love always be seen in all you say and do, and may you always be found, centered upon His will, in the hollow of His hand.

In Christ,
sherry (sdhg, that's me......:))

I think this evening I just want to "blow off" some steam.

I am gonna talk about stuff, that I have no human solution to.

What has happened to our Country?
Why have we allowed things to "escalate" to the point that we are at now? (my 17 year old son says, "Mom, it has not escalated, it has gone "down the tube" into the sewer."

That is frightening to hear a teenager say.

What are we as Christians doing to stand up for what we believe?
Why do we have to be exposed to the garbage that we are exposed to in all the forms of Media?
Garbage ----- filthy language, nudity, extreme violence, and abominations against GOD!

I will stop for now.......... I say we, because, I throw up my hands and say "What can I do?"

A number one thing I can do................. PRAY!!!

GOD will provide a way and He will give direction to those who will stand up for Him.

God bless you all and may you always be found, centered upon His will, in the hollow of His hand.........:)

This morning our pastor brought a message which included this:

Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

John the Baptist said "Behold the lamb of God" the first time he saw Jesus.

Guess what he said the second time he saw Jesus?

Joh 1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

He was just as excited the second time he saw Jesus, as he was the first time.

Are we as excited about Jesus as when we first came to know Him?
Does the mere mention of His wonderful name excite us?

I am very excited and probably will be prone to ramble. Well, I am actually realizing that I can play harmonica by ear ( no it is not painful, for any comedians who read that). It is awesome.... my son heard me playing Oh When The Saints, by ear.... and asked if I could play "Rock of Ages"...... after several attempts of trial and error.......... I DID IT!!!! I am totally amazed. I think that God has just blessed me with talents that are unbelieveable to me....... I have never dreamed of all the wonderful things that God has shown me that I could do as I honor Him in music and song. I play only Gospel music, and WOW.......... what has happened in just the five short years that I have been playing the piano and especially the eight short months of playing the harmonica........ AWESOME!!! THANK YOU LORD!!! I am truly humbled by His being able to use me to touch/reach others through music and song.

Whoah.........
I posted my post from Tuesday, 13 January 2004, in a forum, and I never realized what response it would get...

that post started out with the following:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Which is better I wonder, to speak rapidly and quite often... or.... to weigh everything you say, and speak a limited amount? <<<<<

Seems there are two theories on that.......... >>>>one, is speak your mind no matter what........ it is the responsibility of the hearer to not react to what is said, the speaker has absolutely no responsibility in what they say.

>>>>two, weigh what you say in order to not offend others, unless what you say is Godly...... and here we come to a problem...... because there are many different opinions to what is GODLY....

actually I believe there is another theory on speaking only after thinking or just speaking your mind ......... and it could be this....
speak of things to uplift God's name, to uplift your "neighbor", and edify those around you. To speak in a "tone" that would uplift God's name and/or edify those around you.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Let's say you have talked to someone about God, and the need for salvation. Let's say you pray for that someone's salvation, then after a while, you keep thinking that it'll never happen. Does that mean your lack of Faith in that happening could have an effect on that person's "walk" with God, or lack there of?

example:
This person has said "numerous" times that he would go to Church or to a "singing"; but, when it comes down to the wire he finds a reason he can't go. The person (you) who asked them to go, says to themself, "I knew he wouldn't go".

Is that in a way promoting failure in the one who was asked? Doesn't the way we "feel" that something is gonna happen come across in the way we speak, and act?

And if we are not believing in Faith, why do we bother praying?

I know some people say things like, " If you don't expect something, then you won't be disappointed or hurt when it doesn't happen." Is that the way a Christian should think? I think people who say that sometimes are trying to say not to depend on the fact the person says that they will go, but, to know that God can and will move that person in His time. In other words, don't depend on the person, but, only know God will work in that person's life.

I mean the purpose of the prayer is to believe that the person will be saved. If one doesn't believe, because time continues on without the persons salvation, that they will never come to know Jesus; has the one praying "lost" their faith in God?

These are just some thoughts.......... I heard some people talking about something like this.

God bless you all, and may you always be found, centered upon His will, in the hollow of His hand.

Which is better I wonder, to speak rapidly and quite often... or.... to weigh everything you say, and speak a limited amount?

my opinion: to weigh what one says, would seem better than to say things...... and wish they had never been said>>>>>>>> weighing what one says , would be better than, saying things that make absolutely no sense at all.........

To always be "in a hurry", not always getting half of what you do quite right or to be careful of what you do, and get it right most of the time?

I would rather not have to, as my Momma used to say, "relick my calf"........ :o)....... be right the first time don't have to take something back apart and put in the screw you missed in your rush to "get it done".....

Guess I took her quote a little to seriously, I do triple check myself sometimes to make sure I don't make an error..... probably a little too "overboard"......... then I still mess up........ often.....

There is none perfect, except....... our Lord and Savoir and He is perfection.

just some thoughts.......

God bless us all, and may we always be found, centered upon His will, in the hollow of His hand.

Okay,

I heard a quote today that really is along the lines that I have been thinking lately. It was this.... "I already know now more than I do." Concerning head knowledge of something, but, not fully acting on it...... doing it. Knowing what you should be doing and actually doing it are two different things. Much like a child who knows that they are supposed to always take out the trash every day, but, they don't always do it.... without a reminder. Do we really want God to "remind" us what we are suppossed to be doing?

Is your heart ever heavy for those whom you love, (family and/or friends) who have never repented of their sin, and accepted Jesus as their Lord and savoir?

Is your heart ever heavy for those whom you don't know, maybe even think you don't love, who have never repented and accepted Jesus?

If the answer to either of those questions is no, remember these things....:

Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Mat 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Mat 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

OUCH............ everytime I read it...... I fall short ..........

Mat 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

That neighbor doesn't necessarily mean those "next door" to you.........

God bless and keep you all in the hollow of His hand.........:)

I was talking with a cousin this morning. We were discussing how some children we knew had been and are being "raised"; and how some just let their children "grow up".

I then thought of this, I am sure it is not original from me. In other words I am sure I have heard something like it before. Anyways, I said some things like this.......

Well, you have to "raise" children, you can not just "let them grow up". and I gave this as an example..... it's like a grape vine, you buy it, plant it and then you nurture it, you fertilize it (feed it), you prune it when it grows out its bounds, you always try to promote new growth and get rid of the old stuff that is hard and tough .... you keep the weeds and briers from growing up in it that would eventually choke it...and as you nurture it, it grows and produces good fruit..... on the other hand.... you buy a grape vine and you plant it......... and you leave it to itself .... it just grows up .... but, if it gets entangled with the briers ..... it is hard to get to the fruit, and not having been pruned and fertilized that fruit may not be good ....... or maybe part of it grows up into a tree, there the fruit is out of everyone's reach and is of no benefit to anyone..... and eventually that vine will choke the tree to death...... or maybe it grows up and just winds around itself going nowhere, and becoming a clump in which weeds start to grow and eventually choke the vine .......... so think about children then........ you have a child, you can either "raise" him/her or you can "let him/her "grow up"....... you can give guidance or just "let 'em figure it out for themselves".

oh this cousin is thinking of having children.... thus the reason for the conversation...

ok.......... now let me get of the soap box.....

May God bless and keep you all
in the shelter of His mighty,
and loving arms, and may
your hearts all be filled
with His sweet peace
and wondrous love.
