MERRY CHRISTMAS |
I love Christmas and all the traditions. I have kept a lot of my family's traditions, have changed some and have created some new ones. Having grandchildren has made our Christmas extra special. We celebrate Christmas Eve with them and our daughter and have a big family dinner then we open our presents. Now that they are older they are a little more patient about getting through dinner. When they were younger they just wanted to get to the presents. We only open the ones that we exchange, they still wait for Santa to come on Christmas morning for their "Santa" presents. It is my favorite time of the year to spend with them.

Years ago when our daughter first married I started a new tradition by combining the twelve days of Christmas with the coming of Advent candle wreath. They were given 12 presents to be opened one day at a time and they lit one candle each night. By Christmas Eve all the candles were lit. I guess it's also like lighting the Menorah. I have continued this with the grandchildren and it's still 12 presents and they take turns opening them each night. It is something they really look forward to. Another tradition I started was painting a little house that has now become a village of buildings. They all light up and it is really pretty. Below are some pictures of them.

The recipes for the food for our Christmas will follow.
