Just about every good party starts out with good appetizers.
I have even had parties that were all appetizers. The best part about that kind of party is it all can be done ahead of time and replinished as the party progresses. I have had theme parties and some of international cuisines. I love giving parties. I firmly believe that a good party is all in the planning. I make lists upon lists and work from them. By party day I have everything done and can enjoy myself. I leave very little to the last minute. And, if it can't be done ahead of time I don't serve it. I do bend my rule for small dinner parties and family holidays. But even then I do most of the cooking ahead of time. It must go back to my childhood when the women in my family hardly ever sat down to eat with the everyone else. They were busy cooking and serving. I was determined I would do things differently.
