If the design is not already marked off in squares, make a tracing of it. Mark the tracing off in squares: For a small design, make squares 1/4"; for larger designs, use 1/2" or 2" squares, or the size indicated in the directions. Decide the size of enlargement. On another sheet of tracing paper, mark off the same number of squares that are on the design or original tracing. For example, to make your design, each new square must be 6 times larger than the original. Copy the outline from your original tracing to the new one, square by square. Use dressmaker's carbon and a tracing wheel to transfer the design onto the material that you are decorating.
