Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species Binomial nomenclature is when you take the genus and species of an organism to give it a specific name. This classifies different organisms and makes each one unique. An example would be Homo sapien. The genus is capitalized and both words are generally in italics.
