Trains-n-Me is a WEB page describing the construction, design, debug and controls of a model train layout to demonstrate Real Time Controls. The layout is approximately 75 Square Feet, with 21 Atlas Snap Switches to allow remote track switching. The layout is HO scale, and the DCC controller is by Digitrax. We will attempt to describe how the system was designed, how specific components were selected and why. With that we will take you through the entire purchasing, building, and debugging of the system. Included will be a complete part listing, schematics, layout drawings., source code listings in both Visual C++ and assembly language etc. Our goal is to satisfy the interest of all of those Prototypical individuals, as well as those who are just interested in trains. Lets not forget that appeal to the Model Railroad buffs and the children.

The end result of 7rains-n-Me will be to satisfy a wide diversity of interests and needs ranging from interests in construction and technicals who are interested in hardware and/or software, and those who just want to play.

The controls that will be demonstrated in this project will relate Real Time Controls. that could be applied to large material handling systems, automated production facilities, process controls, robotics, etc..,

The site will be broken into various sections, appealing to different groups of individuals.

  • Construction for those who want to build their own layout.
  • Scenery for those who want to decorate their layout.
  • The Controls section will be broken down into two sections, one addressing DCC and the other addressing the Real Time Controls.
  • Software section describing the various software implementations that go into the control of the system.

There will be an ample supply of photographs for every section, affording the viewer a better hands-on feeling.

The site will also have Q&A sections for each section of the site where you will have the opportunity to ask/answer questions about that section, or to make suggestions if you so desire.

Have fun, because this is going to be a lot of fun and a big challenge!
