Knights of Columbus
Readville Council 2980
Heres hoping this letter finds all members and their families happy and healthy.
This years Tootsie Roll drive was a tremendous success, raising more money than any in recent memory. Special thanks to Paul Nolan for organizing this years drive on short notice. The drive is very important, as it is the councils most publicly visible activity of the year and as in addition to the fact that it raises money for a very worthy cause. Thanks to all who participated. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Please note that the next council meeting will be held Tuesday, November 13th at 7:30 pm. This is a departure from our normal meeting date of the first Tuesday of each month. This is necessary due to the fact that November 6th is Election Day. Please plan to attend the meeting if you can, as we are looking for some new faces and some fresh ideas. Everyones input is appreciated. Anyone who has any ideas and cannot attend the meeting can call me anytime at (617) 361-5633 or send an e-mail to Dan.Fitzpatrick@VerizonWireless.com. Please also make sure to go to the polls November 6th.
I appreciate your support and look forward to a great year.
The annual Turkey Shoot will be held on Saturday, November 17th at George Wright Golf Course. There will be prizes and a reception back at the council following the tournament. Any member interested in playing can either call the council at (617) 361-2220 or stop by and sign up by Thursday, November 15th, when the teams will be picked. We look forward to a good turnout.
We will be showing the Hasim Rahman-Lennox Lewis Heavyweight Championship bout and associated undercard on Saturday night, November 17th. All members are invited to bring friends, but please use your discretion, as we would like to start showing these events regularly. Please try to arrive before 10 pm.
We will be keeping the council open until midnight or later on Thursday evenings. Please come down and shoot pool, play cards, and watch games. The more people we can get coming down regularly, the more we can improve the attractions we have (add video games, etc.).
There has been some interest expressed in establishing a cribbage league. Play would begin in January and take place one night a week (we havent decided which night yet) through until April or May. I will fill you in on details as they become available. Please let me know if this is something that would interest you.
