This unit is to be implemented after
the completion of the Introduction of Factoring. Prior knowledge that will be
implemented in this unit include; Exponent Properties, Simplifying Polynomials,
Factoring greatest common monomial. The purpose of this unit is to inspire
higher cognitive reasoning along with practical problem-solving techniques.
This unit is accountable within the Maine Learning Results Standards.

Day 1- Products of
Polynomials Day
2- Difference of two squares, Perfect square trinomials
Day 3- Factoring
Trinomials, Combined types of Factoring Day 4- Quiz on above information
Day 5- Factoring by
groups Day 6- Solving Equations by Factoring,
Standard Quadratic Equation
Day 7- Consecutive
Integers Day
8- Quiz on day 5, 6, and 7
Day 9- Group Activity Day
10- Final evaluation on unit
Approach: All of the lessons will be a math-centered
environment and the approach will be a mixture of lecture, practice and drill,
independent practice, discovery learning, discussion, question & answer,
group work, and visual aids.
