Lesson Objections:    The student will be able to:

§         Identify when the u substitution is necessary

§         Interpret the formula in his/her words

§         Solves a problem using u substitution

§         Justify the use of u substitution on a problem

§         Reproduce steps in solving with u substitution

 

Set Induction: Ask students what things we substitute in life? Why do we substitute?

 

Methodology:

·        Review last lesson plan, clear up haziness

·        Show a problem step by step without using u substitution

·        Explain the use of u substitution

·        Show the same problem by using u substitution

·        Continue doing problems with added difficulty

·        Call on students to help solve problems

§         Informally assess students’ progress and help troubleshoot problems during the lesson

Closure:          Assign and go through homework for clarity of what is assigned

                        Have them start homework until time to change classes
