Precious Kisses

Jacqueline’s Junque

A gift sent down from heaven,
One that would change my world;
As I heard the sweetest saying,
"Congratulations...it's a girl."

From baby dolls to high school proms,
And each step along the way,
I've stood tall, enduring all,
Fumbling for just what to say.

I've tried hard to protect you,
Be your personal prince charming;
The knight who slayed the dragons,
When the world seemed too alarming.

Then I would wait for my reward,
Those tender, precious kisses;
That turned this Dad into a king,
Who thought you were a princess.

Now all the toys are put away,
And you are leaving home;
Behind these eyes, so filled with pride,
Part of me feels left alone.

A woman who is ready,
To make her mark upon this world;
Yet I still see within those eyes,
The innocence of a girl.

Out there a young man is waiting,
And you will share his life;
I'll proudly walk you down the aisle,
Giving you to be his wife.

One last time you'll reward me,
With your tender precious kisses;
Reminding me, I'm still the king,
And you'll always be my princess.
