Comparison of Interracial
Marriage to Same Sex Marriages
There are a lot of
similarities between the history of interracial marriages and same sex
marriages. First of all, they general American public has not approved of
either throughout history. Both groups have seen ways that have prevented them
from marrying the person they love. The recent DOMA laws are just as
unconstitutional as the laws from pre 1967 which did not allow interracial
marriages. Both groups have been told that these marriages should not be
allowed because they are “not natural” or “its just not right.” Both groups
have been discriminated against throughout America’s history.
A way to deteriorate
Americans homophobia is to accept same sex marriages. When racially mixed
marriages were accepted, racism has declined. Let people marry the people who
they want to marry. It will make this country better. There might be some
resistance to the ideas of the legality of same sex marriages at first, but in
time, it will be resolved because there will be no more unconstitutional laws
for the idea of marriage. People will be more accepting of those who are
different.
