Among the highlights of the year: Sheriff Feeldenstreme gained a new deputy, Smilin' Jack O'Riordan; Lord Mayor Bunberry took Hugh Twitt on as his herald and hired a personal minstrel, Mary Medley; the Widow Black's nephews Pierce and Dalton came to visit; Captain Morgan was named as the town treasurer; Elizabeth Devonshire dropped her "Vanity Vallaincourt" stage name and became the mistress of Kid's Court; the Princess Elizabeth's champion Allan Winterbourne began a controversial love affair with the androgynous Ann"Drew" Ladley.
