Appointed as Advisor to the Duke of Kurpfalz in 1636
Appointed as the Chief Administrator of the city and region of Bretten in 1642
Appointed as senior advisor to the Dukes of Kurpfalz in 1645; He represents the duchy at the imperior council of dukes
In 1650 awarded with a noble title, coat of arms, and noble estate for his services. Addition of the title "von Bretten" to the family name

6. Friedrich Matthäus v. Bretten
Born June 11, 1770 in Lauwald
Enrolled at the University of Paris in 1787 at the age of 17, at his sister's request and expense
Left Paris in 1789, as the pre-revolution turmoil began to escalate
As his brother Georg was the sole heir to the family estate of Lauwald, Friedrich joined the army of the Duke of Wuerttemberg and later settles in Karlsruhe
7. Phillip Anton v. Bretten
Born June 11, 1796 in Karlsruhe
Military advisor to Karl Ludwig von Baden Zähringen, Duke of Baden
Married to Dorothea von Sponeck, a distant relation of the Ducal family. Phillip's standing with the court rose considerably as a result of his marriage to Dorothea
Upon Phillip's retirement from the court in 1851, he was awarded with an estate and castle "Neudendorf" (former Propstei of a Convent) in the Breisgau region near Freiburg. This generous grant was due mostly to Leopold Duke of Baden (the son of Karl Ludwig von Baden), whose maternal grand-mother was Countess Maximiliane von Sponeck (a relation of Dorothea's)
8. Georg Anton v. Bretten

Studied law at the university of Karlsruhe
Later practiced law in Karlsruhe
Upon his father's death in 1862, resigned from the court and moved to the Neuendorf estate his father had been granted
9. Tadaeus Anton v. Bretten
Born July 4, 1847 in Karlsruhe
Studied law at the university of Karlsruhe, like his father
Became an officer in the war against France 1870/71
Returned to Neuendorf after the war and took over the estate's administration
10. Dr. Wilhelm Friedrich v. Bretten
Born July 4, 1872 at Neuendorf, died at Neuendorf in 1910, aged 38
Children: 1. Karl Hubertus (b. 1895; d. 1916); 2. Dorothea Amalia (b. 1905; unmarried; d. 1968 at Neuendorf); 3. August Maximilian (b. 1901; d. 1971); 4. Georg Sebastina (b. 1910; d. 1987)
Ran the family estate until his sudden death in 1910, leaving the estate in the care of external administrators (oldest son Karl is only 15 years old at his father's death)
11. Georg Sebastian Baumeister v. Bretten
Born January 2, 1910 at the Neuendorf estate
First generation to carry the Baumeister pre-fix in the name since Phillip Anton Baumeister v. Bretten (born in 1796)
As the fourth child, takes over the Neuendorf estate after his eldest brother Karl is killed in WW1 and his oldest surviving brother August decides to pursue a career in government (as he saw no future in the family estate)
When taking over the administration of Neuendorf at age 18, the estate is virtually bankrupt, after nearly 20 years of mis-management at the hands of external adminstrators
Sells off large portions of the lands and leases remaining areas to the local Winzergenossenschaft (vintners' collective) to avoid losing the manor house and being able to make improvements
Studied law at the university of Freiburg after serving in the military
Served in WW2 between until 1945 - in British captivity at the end of the war
Opened law practice in Endingen in 1946 and resides at Neuendorf
12. Friedrich Alexander Georg Baumeister von Bretten

Studied Business and Economics at the University of Freiburg
Married the Comtesse d'Antour et Gascoux in 1978
Reestablished the winery at Schloss Bretten in 1982
