Welcome to the 20th Annual Kingland Invitational

Friday, August 2nd 2019

It's our 20th year! Over our 19 year history, we've had, 2,378 players on two different courses and 42,804 holes played. We've held the after party in two different back yards, a function hall and a restaurant. We've had folks come up with matching uniforms, team logos, a video of our tournament (15th Anniversary Video - thanks Eddy!) and even a caricature portrait of Aiman, Eric and Jim (thanks Roger!)

All in all, 19 years of really great memories.

The 2018 winners were Keith Beagan (not pictured), Tom Doherty, Bill Looney and Brendan Sullivan . Think you're as good as them? Last year, we gave out over $13,000 in prizes: six TVs, a Nintendo Switch, 2 iPads, peanut M&M's, an Echo Show, two Amazon Fire HD, Bose Sound Speakers, a Nest thermostat, a Ring Doorbell, an iWatch, a GoPro, a Star Wars Jedi Challenge system, AirPods, an Drone and a bunch of golf prizes (35+ in total). Clare Beecher-Allan won Long Drive (Women's), John Enright took Long Drive (Men's) and Robbie Sullivan hit our Closest to the Pin award. Also, Colleen Hannon won the illustrious 8th annual Closest-to-the-Vader award.

SHOTGUN START
We'll be doing a shotgun start again this year. All golfers must be at the course by 7:30am. So first paid, first served. Spaces are limited.

LOCATION
NEW LOCATION!!!!!!!!! This year, for our 20th annual, the tournament will be at Wentworth Hills Country Club in Plainville, MA (see links below for course specifics and directions). This year, the after party, lunch and raffle will take place at the Wentworth Hills function room (so no need travel after your round is over).

PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded for the 1st place team, closest to the pin, longest drive (men and women's), and one hole-in-one. The one hole-in-one prize (if hit) is a set of TaylorMade irons donated by Golfer’s Warehouse of Braintree. The folks at Golfer’s Warehouse are excellent to work with. We recommend you stop in and see them sometime. And we'll have our usual slew of raffle and cash prizes (last year, over $13,000 in total). Raffle tickets will be sold at the party at a price of $10 for 10 tickets.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Our format of the tournament is scramble (sometimes known as best ball) where each team of four will play the best lie on each shot with mulligans and "string" (string format: use a predetermined length of string to move your team's ball without incurring a stroke). During the round, each team member is only entitled to one shot per rotation. In other words, if a team has only three players, one member is NOT allowed to shoot twice. If your team has only three players, your team may only take three shots per rotation (one per player).

HANDICAP SYSTEM
Once again, we'll be using a team based handicapping system (which we do our best to revise every year). Teams will be assigned into letter groups and each of these groups will get a stroke adjustment to their score. The handicapping will be based off of the normal average scores of the two best players on your team, modified to some extent by your team’s performance last year. The intent is to really open up the competitive opportunities for other teams in the tournament. This process has brought many more teams into contention over the past five years we’ve been using it. AND IF YOU CHANGE YOUR TEAM LAST MINUTE, YOU MAY NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE HANDICAP. SO MAKE SURE YOU LET US KNOW ANY ROSTER CHANGES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

THE COST
The entry fee of $125 INCLUDES two mulligans per player and string for the team. The $125 also includes your 18 holes, a cart, and catered lunch at the after tournament party. Guests are also more than welcome at the after tournament party (although we do request $10 per guest to cover food).

So put in for a vacation day on Friday August 2nd and join us at Wentworth Hills. Just register by using the link below (registration is first come, first served, and payments must be received by July 5th, 2019). Make sure you get your fees in early, in case we run out of spots.
