“What I want to be when I grow up”

I want to be a firefighter when I grow up. The reason I choose this job is because fireman help a lot of people, and I like helping people. They also get to ride on that big red cool fire truck.

To be a fireman I have to have a High School Diploma or a GED, I also must be at least 19 yrs old, a Boston resident for at least one year. To take a required test, I just have a valid drivers license, a non-smoker, and meet the medical fitness requirements. Some of the other training I can get is the Fire Explorers Program, (through the Boys Scouts of America) 1 year of a Fire Cadets Program, and College Cadets Corps. I can also take some other certificate training Programs such as CPR, MT, and First Aid.

Firemen make a lot of money. A fireman can make as much as $52.000 a year depending on how much experience they have. Starting pay is between  $28.000 - $30.000 a year. Some of the other benefits are:

·      12 paid

·      holidays

·      15 sick days

·      2-5 weeks paid vacation (depending on how long your on the jog)

·      Employee subsidized health care

·      A free uniform

Once I become a fireman I can go back to school and become a Fire Chief, or a Fire Investigator, they are the people who check the scene after the fire is out to see how it started.

When I was looking for information on the Internet about Fireman and Fireman Training I went to Ask.com And Googles.com.

Some of the web sites I used to get my information were:

·        www.learn.com

·        www.fabjob.com

·        www.firearsn.empowering.com

This is the end of my paper, I’m going to finish school, stay healthy, and Never smoke so I can be the best Fire Fighter I can…
