Here is a picture of my Encore rifle. It is chambered for .357 Remington Maximum, is a 24" tapered
barrel, matte finish. I also have a 12 1/2" barrel for the Encore also chambered for the Max. Not to long ago
I bought a used Fox Ridge .223 in the heavy barrel
configuration, haven't had time to shoot it but come
Spring those woodchucks had better watch out!
These barrels are all from Fox Ridge Outfitters. I also have a Virgin Valley Custom Guns barrel
chambered in 17 Remington. This barrel is also 24" long, standard taper, matte blue, and drilled for a scope mount.
With this barrel I ordered one of their forearms along with their hanger bar system.
I have factory wood stocks and the T/C synthetic stocks for both the rifle and pistol configuration. For the rifle,
I prefer the wood stocks, they seem to absorb more of the recoil of the Max. Maybe with a lesser recoiling
cartridge I will try the synthetic stocks again, they do look sharp on an Encore rifle!
I have been thinking of what cartridge to get my next Encore barrel chambered for. So far the 25-06
Remington is tops on my list along with the new cartridge of 500 S+W Magnum!!!! The 500 has really got my juices flowing and every time I think about it I get the urge to call up a barrel maker and order one for myself....some day soon it will happen! The .243 Winchester, .22-250 Remington, 6mm Remington are other
options near the top of my wish list. Don't hate me because I didn't list your favorite caliber, owning an
Encore keeps you dreaming about the hundreds of different chamberings you can get for it.
I seem to change my mind just about every day on what to get next. Maybe
the 6mm-30/30, 20 Squirrel, or the 17 Javalina, or..........How about a 50 Alaskan???
If you enjoy hunting, target shooting, gun collecting, or any other form of the shooting sports then I hope...no pray...that
you have joined one of the many different organizations that help us to protect our rights as stated in the US
CONSTITUTION. If you have not joined or supported one of the many organizations, please follow my link to a list of
those groups who help us fight to retain our rights. Every day that we let those in power whittle away at our rights, is
another day that we become an unarmed society with no means to protect ourselves, no means to hunt and enjoy a
great heritage of ours, and no way to remind the politicians that they are there to work for us, not their own personal
agenda! If you know of any other group or organization that is helping us to defend our rights, please send me their web address and I will include them in a future update of my pages.
Well, we all know that firearm safety is of the upmost importance to all who participate in this wonderful sport
of ours. In the June 2001 issue of
HANDGUNS (a publication of emap-usa), they had a page that had a list of the "TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GUN SAFETY". I have reprinted those commandments
here for you! Please
use them every time you are enjoying our shooting sports.
This is a true account of gun confiscation, it happend in the area in and around where I currently live. Many people were shot and killed by government troops while standing up for their rights. This took place many years before I was born, but if I were alive at
that time, I can guarantee that I would have been one of those who opposed the Governor!
A friend of mine from the
Go Go Varmint Go Forum wrote this piece. It is about a way of life that some
have forgotten ...... but most importantly, that many still remember! Lets keep memories like this one alive
as we make new memories to pass on to the generations that will come after us.
Another story about the Second Amendment. This one I found on the webpages of the
BACKWOODS HOME
MAGAZINE. This one is well worth the effort to pass it on to your friends and to those who make
the laws!
A friend of mine at the
Go Go Varmint Go Forum wrote this piece to remind us that we are losing our war heros and to give them our heart felt thanks for their sacrifices before they report to the ultimate roll call.
Here is a tribute dedicated to all who served in our Navy, whether it be peace time or war. If you know of a simular
tribute to the other branches of the military, please forward it to me and I will gladly add it to my site!
Another tribute to those who fought for our freedoms! I found a site that has a condensed version of
this poem and they gave credit to a Father Dennis Edward O'Brien. No date was given, but if
any one knows when it was written, please forward the info to me.
I am not sure where or when this was written but for those who love
our country and would give the ultimate sacrifice to defend Her, this poem is very dear to their patriotic heart.
Here are a few of my favorite Chat/BBS sites which center on many of the shooting sports. Some of these
sites are specialized, some are very general and cover a variety of topics. If you have a site you enjoy and
would like to see it listed here, send me an e-mail with the URL and I will check it out. If I think it is worthy
of being listed here, then when time avails itself to me, I will add it to this list.
Every once in a while I hear about a situation that took place in a Houston, TX warehouse. When I first
read the article it had me riveted and excited about learning how to shoot and reload more accurately.
If you need any kind of insperation, or have heard about Houston and want to read what it is all about,
just follow this link and read the article for yourself!
If you are looking for TARGETS, then check out my list of different sites around the web that have just
about every type of target to suit any ones needs. If you know of a site that has targets to download or
to print online, then please send the URL to me and I will put them on my page at the next update.
I do not know about you, but I know that I am always looking for hunting/fishing info in areas other than the ones I
primarily hunt. Here is a page with links to the different state wildlife sites, I also have links to the Canadian
provinces as well. If you find any of the links are invalid, please shoot me an e-mail with the correct address and I will
update it as soon as I can!
I love the Thompson Center Encore, it is a blast to shoot! Here are some sites that provide parts, services, and usefull information concerning all of the different Thompson Center products. One of my favorite online activities is to browse these sites and dream about how I am going to trick out my Encore with either a new barrel or accessory.
Thank you for visiting my page at Angelfire.
