ELECTION VICTORY for the Nationalist Party (P.N.) - Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami sworn in as Prime Minister of Malta

The Nationalist Party (P.N.) has been returned to Government following General Elections held in Malta on the 12th April, 2003.

The Official Election results have confirmed that the Nationalist Party (P.N.) has acquired a majority of 12,080 votes (51.79%) over the Malta Labour Party. MLP Leader Dr Alfred Sant has already conceded defeat.

Nationalist Party Leader, Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami in fact was sworn in as Prime Minister of Malta, on Monday 14th April, at 11.00 a.m. by the President of Malta, H.E. Prof. Guido de Marco.

Meanwhile, on 14th April, the Leader of the Malta Labour Party, Dr. Alfred Sant announced that he will not be contesting for the Leadership of the Party when the Party's Extra-ordinary General Conference convenes within the next three weeks. Dr John Attard Montalto and Dr. Jose' Herrera have already announced their intention to contest for the Leadership of the MLP.

General Elections were held in Malta on Saturday, 12th April, 2003.

The Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Eddie Fenech Adami, has advised H.E. The President of Malta, Prof. Guido de Marco, to dissolve the Maltese Parliament and call general elections for the new Parliament for 12th April.

The President of Malta, acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, has issued the necessary Proclamations I and II, as well as the Writ to the Electoral Commission to hold General elections in all the 13 Districts of Malta.

This web site features official information on General Elections in Malta since 1921, statistics and candidates contesting with the political parties. Links with the local political parties are also featured.

First and last count votes for all the 13 Districts are available on this web site. We will also insert the names of the candidates who will be elected as Members of Parliament and one can view the whole list of Members of Parliament for the 10th Legislature (2003-2008).

The official General Election Results will be available on sale from the Sales Section of the Department of Information, Castille Place, Valletta, for the price of 50 cents only.
