Localized SLTP

It's service that measures success.  Service is defined as making a difference for someone or something.  Service should be one of life's "get to's" and not one of life's "have to's."  Every conference, seminar and every part of SLTP has a differencemaking element.  We believe that differencemaking is intrinsic to leadership.
To that end, we have established an ongoing element of SLTP to be based in our participating schools and communities.
Students Making Differences is the SLTP Alumni Association.  SMD is committed to Inclusion, growth and differencemaking.
SMD has been established to allow and enable our alumni the opportunity to utilize the skills learned in SLTP.  Yet, SMD has not been established to be an organization EXCLUSIVELY for our alumni.  Each local chapter must be founded by a SLTP Staffer or graduate - - but the membership is open to all who are interested.
SMD Chapters have begun springing up all over.  As each chapter forms and is certified, they receive a packet of material to assist them on their quest to make differences.  Chapters also receive information about the various scholarships available through SMD.
SMD Chapters elect Regional Representatives to serve on a Regional Executive Board which is charged with assisting and recognizing the work of the individual chapters.  Regional Board members will be recognized at the REE.

The Grand Slam Awards

Attending OTS, LTC, ALC and the REE all in the same calendar year is a considerable feat !  We will celebrate the schools and individuals who accomplish this feat at the ReEnergizer Conference.  The recognition will include special awards and camperships.

The Student Leader of the Year Award

Since 1990 SLTP has been blessed through the participation of over 3,000 student leaders.  The impact of SLTP graduates can be felt from the classroom, to the boardroom to the halls of legislation.  SLTP graduates tend to take the mantle of leadership very seriously.  Perhaps that is why so many receive leadership grants and scholarships, or are selected to be RA's.  Some go unrecognized except by those for whom they made a difference.  All are champions.
In 2000, SLTP founded the Student Leader of the Year Award to recognize SLTP's most outstanding student leader for the current year.  The SLY Award Ceremony is one of the prime presentations at the ReEnergizer Conference.  Student leaders can be nominated for the SLY by SLTP Staffers, by their Principal, or by their student activity adviser.
