Wouldn't it be nice to have an omni-directional
antenna that is multi-band and gives you 9db of gain on its' lowest band?
You can buy an antenna that good for about a minimum of $200. dollars,
or you can build it for about $50 including materials, and a couple hours
of your time. The expensive commercial antenna will work just fine,
but the best I've seen, still have a much narrower useable SWR bandwidth
than what I propose you can build. With careful construction, and
a little patience in tuning it, you can have a maximum of 1.2:1 SWR from
144 to 148 Mhz. I have done the work for you, and having built many
of these antennas, I can promise you, that if you follow my directions,
you can build your own 9db gain omni-directional multi-band antenna and
