Collect any extra crayons you see! At many restaurants, they offer crayons with a kids’ menu. If your kid uses them, take them home with you. If you leave them on the table, they will get thrown away! Even better, if you can contact the manager of a restaurant that gives out crayons, tell them about the CRAYON RECYCLE PROGRAM™. Ask them to keep a box where they can put used crayons, and then offer to pick up the crayons from them. Then you can send them to the program! That makes a major difference! Imagine, they give about 5 crayons per kid, and afterword it’s just thrown away! Some restraunt chains that do give crayons include: Denny’s™, Applebee’s™, T.G.I. Fridays™, Cantina Laredo™, Chili’s™, California Pizza Kitchen™ and many more.
Hold a drop-off bin! If you have a store and would like to hold a Crayon Recycle drop-off bin there,do it! Supply a box and advertise the idea. Then send the collected crayons to the program!
Make Your Voice Heard! Many major crayon companies do not recycle their own products, and do not let it be known that crayons can be recycled! Write letters to major crayon manufacturers; tell them about recycling and encourage them to advertise and participate in the idea themselves! There are strengh in numbers, so sign petitions and make it publicated. Tell these corporations how you feel about the millions of crayons that get thrown away each year. If we all write one letter, it will get their attention!
