Thorton Burgess Museum

The 1756 Thorton Burgess Museum, on Shawme Pond in the center of Cape Cod’s oldest town, Sandwich. The museum collects, maintains and exhibits artifacts, art, writings and other personal and professional memorabilia which relate to his life and work. On the grounds is a herb garden overlooking the pond where swans and ducks can be seen.

First Church of Christ

The 1638 First Church of Christ in Sandwich. Just a year after the Court of the Colony of New Plymouth in New England granted land to ten men from Saugus for settlement, an original meetinghouse was built. (probably around 1640) It was replaced by the Town Hall on the same area in 1834.
