After this vigil and the 28th court appearance for Todd,
Ann McCormick has a schedule to leave February 29th from Los Angeles
to join the Global Peace Walk 2000 until returning home from LAX on May 1st
to take part in Millennium Marijuana March event in Boston.

We need some help in the form of a volunteer who is willing to take
a week to drive her and me to join the walk where it will be
in the Navajo-Hopi reservation area about 100 miles north of Flagstaff AZ.

The Navajo Nation, a couple of years ago, led the way in
relegalizing industrial hemp on its largest US Indian reservation
territory followed by similar Tribal resolution of the Lakota people in South Dakota.

Ann's presence on the walk during this time will be an invaluable aid
to bringing out the medical cannabis issue and Todd and Peter's case there in Arizona as the walk visits the Hopi and Navajo tribal and traditional authorities and especially in New Mexico where the walk's arrival will catalyze potentially significant national level publicity events in Albuquerque, Santa Fe (Apr8), and Taos where its event on Apr22 is part of the international EarthDay2000 network of events.

The Global Peace Walk 2000 received a letter of support in 1995 from NM Gov. Gary Johnson during its walk for the UN50th anniversary from NYC to San Francisco and a deeper connection with him is expected this time targeting for his participation in the walk events on Apr8 with Ann in Santa Fe.

Ann helped with the Walk and Roll for medmj that walked two times from NY to DC and she will be helping with that network on the Global Peace Walk 2000 route Oct13-24 from DC to the UN in NYC this Fall.

After the walk finishes its activities in Flagstaff AZ leaving walking north on Feb26 the significant network of Flagstaff area supporters can help with an event and press conference in Flagstaff on the day of Ann's arrival in Flagstaff (perhaps March 2?) on the medical cannabis issue on her way to join the walk north of there. This should be well received by AZ media due to AZ situation on cannabis issue in that State.

We need some financial help and transportation assistance to facilitate this important connection and bring Ann on this mission so anyone who can help please let me know asap.

For the Feb26th event and any others please note the website http://congress.nw.dc.us/wnd where not only all elected officials but also pretty much all newspapers and tv stations in the country are indexed state by state and can be emailed en masse from that website for media advisories on events and issues, etc.

Thanks to Tim Perkins and the Orange County Cannabis Coalition folks for coming to join the Global Peace Walk 2000 Feb5 walk down the Hollywood Walk of Fame and offering their messages for the walk to carry. Afterwards the walkers drove to Venice for the afternoon and 9 young folks from there joined the walk at that time which numbered 45 folks and 6 support vehicles when it left Tehachapi Feb7.

They just finished Las Vegas area events and today are crossing from Needles into Arizona. Voicemail and updates on walk location is available at 415-267-1877. They will do relay walking to cover the distance to Kingman by tomorrow night and Williams AZ by Tuesday where they will likely walk all together to arrive outskirts of Flagstaff on Thursday. Mon-Wed night they will most likely be camped at Kaibab Lake campground 4mi north of Williams AZ on Hwy 64.

The walk has collected many new proclamations of support from city mayors and community leaders etc along the way so far and the mayor of Flagstaff has agreed to offer his proclamation of support for the walk to be issued early next week.

Thanks very much for whatever you can do to help on this.

Medical Cannabis Patient Vigil February 26th 2000

WHAT MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING TO OUR CHILDREN?

On February 26, 2000, this and many other questions will be answered during A Vigil To Stop The Persecution Of Medical Cannabis Patients.

This question most often asked, and used by our elected officials, and the people they appoint to wrench the hearts of the American public, will be addressed by Ann McCormick, Mother of Todd McCormick, two days before he is due to be sentenced for legally growing his medicine under H.S.C. 11362.5, passed by the voters in 1996.

When asked about her son who is now being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles awaiting sentencing Ann McCormick said "We are up against a machine that is feeding on our children and seriously ill citizens of this state."

Also speaking will be expert court witness and author Chris Conrad. The Vigil will take place in front of the Midnight Special Book Store, 1318 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica, from 1:00 P.M. till 6:30 P.M., and will include a press conference at 2:00 P.M., Parents of currently persecuted terminally ill patients, as well as many other speakers from activists and lawyers to doctors and caregivers.

Medical Cannabis Patient and founder of Angel Wings Patient OutReach Debra L. Cannistraci a.k.a. Train Lady said "Seriously ill people are suffering at the hands of police and the legislature, because they can profit from the pain and suffering, which they now see as a way to serve their agenda. The truth is, a badge is not a license to practice medicine"

A limited supply of long stem Blue Roses Of Compassion will be available at the vigil as the symbol of commitment, and to help offset the cost of patients and their families to join in the Vigil. "We are establishing this rose as the international symbol of compassion towards all medical cannabis patients, and their families." she said, "The Blue Rose signifies the sadness and hope of every terminally and seriously ill patient."

"It is important that we stand together and make our voices heard" said Robert Deitch, National Director of the Cannabis Freedom Fund (C.F.F.). "The persecution of medical cannabis patients, many of whom are fighting for their very lives, is both an atrocity against humanity and a tragically disgraceful example of American justice."

"In the wake of the passing of our treasurer, long time cannabis and free speech activist Jim Rosenfield, we are more committed than ever to see this law, H.S.C. 11362.5, be adhered to by law enforcement, district attorneys and judges." said Tim Perkins, administrative assistant for C.F.F.

The Vigil is sponsored by Angel Wings Patient OutReach, and the Cannabis Freedom Fund (PAC), and representation from all over the state of California will be coming in to participate. All concerned are encouraged to attend and show support for these parents who know, What Message We Are Sending To Our Children.

Participants are being asked to attend the sentencing of Todd McCormick on Monday, February 28, 2000, at 8:30 a.m. at the Roybald Federal Courthouse on Temple St. in Los Angeles.
