The question of why Japan would attack the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, was a void in my mind after studying World War II. I knew when the attack came, and how, but I still had not learned the whole reason behind the attack. In studying this crucial part of the war, all of Japan's actions started to make more sense in my mind. Their imperial government was intent on expanding their empire and therefore didn't stop to think about the consequences that awaited them in attacking the US. I was interested in both World War II and the events that lead to US involvement in the War. Pearl Harbor is one of those events. I became interested in the Pearl Harbor attack mainly as a result of the movie that was released last summer and as I started learning more about the attack and results, I wanted to know about the cause of the attack also. This project has helped me learn quite a bit about Japan's reasoning for attacking the US at Pearl Harbor, igniting a spark which they would soon regret and not soon forget.
