Please keep it handy in case you ever need to look up a term, get hold of a mediator -- or just want to read it over and reacquaint yourself with the idiosyncrasies of the ML. THE RULES A) No flames or insults of any kind. It is important to respect the differing opinions of others. Disagree- ment and debate are fine when done so respectfully. B) No excessive amounts of one liners. One-liners are posts consisting of three lines or less. They tend to clutter the list, so please post as few as possible -- one or two a week is acceptable. Send them privately whenever possible. C) No attachments, forwards, or pictures. These can take a long time to download and are very bothersome to people who are under time or space limits. They should be sent privately to interested parties. D) No excessive amounts of off-topic posts. This is a Jonny Quest mailing list -- for discussing just that. Please keep off-topic posts down to a bare minimum. E) No cursing, inappropriate language, or material. There are at times very young members of the list, and sometimes parents screen their children's e-mails. Please keep posts clean. Also, lemons (fics with adult situations) or any posts containing adult subjects should be sent privately. ---------------------------------------------------------------- C. THE TERMINOLOGY GLOSSARY 1.) AGALAIAHRA - Anything-Goes-As-Long-As-It-Ain't-HR-Or-Angst; refers to the group that is basically against HR and Angst fanfiction. These people are dedicated to chaos and insanity. 2.) Angst - a sad story in which one or more of the characters receive physical and or emotional/mental pain. These fanfics usually include the death of a character. 3.) BAD - Benton's A Doll-babe; a group of Dr. Benton Quest groupies. 4.) BARK - BAndit's Really Kewl; a group of Bandit groupies. 5.) BWAHAHAHAHA/MWAHAHAHAHA...etc. - insane laughter 6.) CRAQ - CRazy About the Quests; an insanity-loving group which does not condone character-bashing. 7.) Cult Of Rage - A group of Ezekiel Rage groupies. (Homepage: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Lounge/2538/rage.html) 8.) DBN - Desperately Being Neutral; the belief that the Quest triangle (Jonny, Jessie, Hadji) should not be paired together at all. 9.) DILR - Desperately In Love with Race; yet another group of Race groupies. 10.) Fanfic - short for fan fiction; a story written by a fan involving the characters of a show. 11.) FIRE - Fierce In Race's Empathy; a group of Race Bannon groupies. 11.) Flame - a rude e-mail or insult. (These are against the rules.) 12.) Glomp - to physically throw oneself at another person. Shows affection, relief, or that you are extremely happy. 13.) HOSS - Honky Oration and Southernism Society; a group of Race Bannon fans who prefer his first season character and unpredictable dialogues. 14.) HR - Hopeless Romantic; a person dedicated to two of the characters getting together. Usually of the JQ/JB kind but it has expanded into many others. Tack an A on the end and you get the Hopeless Romantics Auxiliary. 15.) JQ 2000 - a team of characters made up by Alexis Ericta. Takes the existing Quest Team and adds five more members, then sets their adventures in the future. 16.) Lemon - a fanfic in which characters engage in sexual contact. These are very explicit in detail, and thus are not suitable for some younger members of the list. All of these are sent out only by request through private mail and are not to be posted to the list. 17.) Lurker - an MLer who does not post often or at all. As the name suggests, they are lurking on the sidelines. Some stay for the fics, some stay for the commentary, and some are just shy. 18.) Lurker Land - the proverbial realm of the lurkers. 19.) Mediators - long standing, respected members of the list that have come together to help settle disagreements. When not settling major ML problems, these are people that are willing to help/listen to problems. 20.) Mike Green - an exceptionally rude former MLer who was around during the Great Flame Wars. He went around insulting the MLers and lasted about a day, then left. We joke about him a lot and his name is usually accompanied by something bad. A case of Mike Green is another way to say "writer's block". 21.) WAR - Womyn Against Race-ism; a faction of MLers who are againstRace having multiple love interests. 22.) Yaoi - a male/male relationship. (Pronounced "yowie") ---------------------------------------------------------------- D.
