For Something
I am frozen now
in the cold equations;
The patterns of my mind
have found their companions
in the patterns of planets and particles
as they orbit my life
in predictable ellipses.
But still I wonder
if these answers couldn't be found
closer;
If holding a hand
couldn't be touching a star,
If one dance couldn't hold the power
of the dance of electrons around their nucleus.
The city lights lose their magic
in the light of the morning star,
And where once your fire shone,
cold incandescence
lights your void.
But I have woken from my ether sleep
and with my dreams
I plot my course through space and time.
Still I wonder,
still I wait
for something.
