Waiting for Noah
Day seven,
And the deluge continues.
Yesterday it was insistent in torrents
That pounded at my window;
Now it falls off in mist
Beyond which the trees,
And tomorrow, crystallize.
The day's first glance presents
A metallic sheet of pavement,
And the rivulets breaking through
Stilled, as in an icy clarity.
The clouds will not yet break formation;
First they await my voice
To break their silence.
