Alicia's Concert Review

Goo Goo Dolls/Sugar Ray in MA. The concert started at 7:00 p.m and I was extremely excited to go to my first Goo concert. When we got there I was sitting on the lawn and I couldn't see the stage that well. First Fastball came out and they sucked (sorry fastball fans) then, came Suger Ray, they were ok. Then, finally my heros of the world came out on stage!! I felt like I was gonna have a spaz! They started playing Long Way Down, then a whole bunch of others. They played a lot of songs from "A Boy Named Goo" like 2 from SSCW, a couple from "Dizzy Up The Girl" and like 1 from each of the other albums. I cried when John started playing "Name" and then I cried again when they played "Iris" and I was just jumping along to the rest of thier incredibly awesome songs. I so badly wanted to jump johnny on stage and just attack him with kisses when they showed close-ups of him. HeeHee. Anyway, I have to say Johnny has a great sense of humor, he made a couple of jokes, the funny part is when he said "I gotta take my cough drops or else I sing like shit" *takes cough drop* Then he said "Summer's almost over yet" *everyone Boos* "Well don't look at me,I dont make the calander" Then it was funny when he took a camara out and took everyone's picture. He said he wanted to remember that night forever. Robby was really awsome too, but I was soo pissed when John Introduced Robby and I heard some people boo!! rrrrr...Well he said some other stuff too. The cool part was at the end when they go nuts and throw the guitar though the movie screen thingy. Then it was over and we left...I didn't get any T-shirts 'cause they were 30-40 $!! YIKES!! I was in shock for the past couple of days thinking that a few nights ago THE goo goo dolls were just FEET away from me. It felt so amazing. SO that's my concert review!! hope 'ya liked it!

Shine Goo's Review

Denver, Colorado on July 28, 1999 at Fiddler's Green Ampatheater
As soon as I found out the GGD were coming to Colorado, I told myself I was going to the concert. I asked a bunch of my friends but none of them really liked the GGD (also, none of them could drive or protect me from bad guys). I'll spare you all the details and just say that I ended up calling one of my co-workers who is a fairly large woman who can drive. Her name is Dawn. I asked if she liked the GGD and she said yes! I asked if she wanted to take me to their concert and she said sure and that Geno, her guy, wanted to come, too! They told me to get the cheapest tickets (which is lawn) but at least I was getting to go. So for the entire month of July I jumped up and down and was so excited for the concert! The day before the concert I had to babysit and I drove the kids crazy! The day of the concert I had to get up early and work so that Dawn and Geno could get off early to go to the concert. I had made a tape of DUTG for Dawn and Geno the day before because when talking to Dawn, I found out they only knew "Iris" and "Name", etc (only like 3 songs!) and we listened to it the whole way down. We ate some sandwiches before we went in. I now love mustard on my sandwiched because the sandwich that I ate that day was the best one I'd ever had! Since I had been to Fiddler's Green twice before, so I knew exactly where to go and we quickly got a 'great spot' on the lawn. I don't particularly like Fastball except fot the "Fire Escape" song and it was raining so we were kinda bored through them. I just kept going on and on about how cool the GGD were going to be, what they would be wearing (Johnny-green pants and a white tank top. . .VERY HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Robby-black. . .Mr. Adorable and Mikey-couldn't see. . . they had the video screens on but the only showed Johnny a LOT and Robby a few times). I felt really sorry for Fastball because no one liked them.
Then Sugar Ray came on and people liked them. They were pretty good but I hadn't heard many of their songs and kept wondering why their "clock didn't change" (14:59) LOL! Mark McGrath didn't stand still at all the whole time but he was really nice and talked a lot to the crowd.
So, Sugar Ray ended and I just totally went spastic! The GGD were next. Dawn told me we better go walk around a little and use up some of my energy. So we ended up at the little GGD store thing and I got a necklace and decided I didn't need a shirt because they were too expensive at $47 a piece. So, as I'm putting on my new necklace, the crowd starts screaming! I'm like "oh, no, I'm missing them" and I tear back to our spot on the lawn. The movie is playing and I missed half of it. Oh, well, at least I didn't miss the GGD. There was like a 10 minute wait after the movie before the guys came on. The rain stopped and it was just beautiful. There was a full moon that night and I was praying that Robby would sing "Full Forever". Finally that lights went off and "Dizzy" started the three most loveable, awesome and talented guys in the universe were on the stage! I was sooo 'Dizzy' it was just unbelieveable. I screamed and jumped up and down non-stop all the way through the first three songs (Dizzy, Long Way Down and Lazy Eye). Dawn and Geno were a little un-sure but they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Johnny talked a lot and was just a total honey. I wish Robby and Mikey had talked, too. Everytime Robby sang I screemed his name and every time Johnny sang I screamed for him. Mikey did a drum solo and guess what? I screamed! I was like the only person on the lawn that knew every word to every song and sang with the guys. (A lot of people were goofing around according to Dawn and Geno, but I don't remember ANYthing that the crowd did because all I saw or heard was the Goos. I sure heard a lot of interesting things that happened around me later.) Everyone loved Johnny the most and everytime he went to the side of the stage the whole crowd leaned in to reach him. He is so sweet and down-to-earth though and when Robby introduced him, he looked down. I also found it hysterical when he was talking about how the Backstreet Boys were going to beat him up and was 'punching' himself. When he told the "Name" story he said "Alright, I gotta tell ya, I got more shit for writing this song than Marylin Manson got when he piersed his tits" and then he said something LIKE "but it was worth it if you love it" and everyong got out their cigarett liters as he started playing (the guy directly in front of me got out his cell phone!) it was so magical!
The whole night was magical! I loved every minute of it and I love the Goos even more because of it. Robby did sing "Full Forever". The whole crowd sang "Iris" and a little bit of "Slide" (that's like the only songs anyone knew). Hearing Black Balloon (my all time favorite song ever!) live is like being in heaven! The whole show was heaven. Okay, I could go on and on but the review would be endless praise for the Goos awesome show. You already know this was the best concert I've ever been to. After the show I was going to get some stickers but when I was in line I ran into one of my friends (who was with a group of my friends that I didn't know were there! They went for Sugar Ray and had seats) and she talked me into getting a shirt. She got BOTH SR and GGD stuff! I skipped back to the car with Geno (Dawn was not feeling well, bless her heart for going anyway!) and the whole 2 hour car ride home I talked about how cool the GGD were and said that we should go on to Kansas and see them again. (We saw a limo on the interstate and Geno offered to follow it but I said they had Levi's Fuse 99 BUSES!) Dawn and Geno liked the GGD and are now fans. Geno has a band and they play GGD music now. I of course am still raving about the best concert I have ever been to and the best band in the universe!
