Arthur's Perfect Christmas |
If you feel like contributing something to this thing, (since it's certainly not 100% complete -- is anything ever?) Let me know.
January 14,
Like last year's Christmas tree, or an unwanted fruitcake, this synopsis has been sitting around here for a little while longer than it should have. I dunno how interested anyone will be in reading this now,
but here's the review of "Arthur's Perfect Christmas" as promised.
For interest's sake, the review was done on the special as it aired on the CBC, December 17, 2000, if I remember rightly.
This special was longer than a normal episode, and thus, took longer to review than a normal episode.2000 2001 (Duh! -- thanks, Alex)
:/
Part 1 of 5 |
In which Arthur states that this Christmas will be perfect, Francine has a falling out with Muffy, Buster has a problem with the holidays, and Arthur goes shopping with Mom. |
Part 2 of 5 |
In which Buster struggles with an overzealous mother, Muffy parties, and Uncle Fred acts the fool on a video. |
Part 3 of 5 |
Preparations for Santa are made by Arthur, Santa comes, and goes. Uncle Fred comes, and stays. Arthur "goes". Mom's present goes. Arthur's Christmas is turning out even less perfect than he thought. |
Part 4 of 5 |
Things turn out ok for Arthur. Things turn out for D.W.. |
Part 5 of 5 |
Things turn out ok for Buster and Francine and Muffy as well. Uncle Fred gets out of town, and everything wraps up not-quite-perfect, but better than expected nonetheless. |
Wait... there's more... Be sure to have a look at these as well:
"Aftermath" |
Quick comments don't do this special justice. Be sure to read through this -- interesting and thought-provoking. |
"Is that all there is?" |
Depending on what version of the special you saw, what network you saw it on, etc., you might have missed out bits (mainly as a result of editing for time). See if you missed anything... |
Hmm. That's it for now. There might be more to come in the future, who knows...
Dave
Enjoy.
| Note: I "borrowed" (ok, just took) some screenshots which appeared on the official PBS Arthur site for the review of the special -- I like to try and avoid the use of anything unauthorized on this site, but I felt the images really added to the review. Just letting everybody know. - Dave |
