Name: Magus Jacob

Signature Quote: "Creators and gods aren't the same thing at all."

Personal Email address: neovid@hotmail.com

  • Height: 6' 11"

  • Weight: 460 lbs.

  • Appearance: Atavist. Blunt-muzzled wolfish look (something like a combination of wolf and cat), with one pair of thin fangs that reach to the point of his jaw, retractable claws, felinoid-jointed legs, and fur in a uniform shade of milk-chocolate brown. Has an Ultima's gold-mixed-with-silver eyes. Wears a black trenchcoat, no shirt, baggy pants that almost hide his leg structure, and sandals (since nothing else'll fit on paws). Also wears a copper chain around his neck, with intricate patterns pressed into the links. Well-muscled, but more conditioned than huge. He's completely capable of changing his form, but rarely does.

  • Alternate Appearance: The only changes are he has no trenchcoat, and an official Vid Shirt(tm) in black. The shirt is constantly overloaded, trying to display several levels of thought at once.

  • Fighting Style: He knows every fighting style known to man just like he knows everything else. He'll sometimes mix up different ones in odd ways.

  • Button Style: Street Fighter

  • Bio: Possibly the most powerful of the posthumans, [huge spoiler deleted] Aside from that, Jake is one of the most influential people ever in the Focal Point. Believing that all humans are eventually meant to gain the power of Creators, he's a natural rival to anyone who tries to hold people back...

  • Intro: [spoiler deleted] Just try and get it out of me. Nyah nyah.

  • Theme Songs: (Chosen randomly before each fight)

    • Game Theme: Deus Superior (Blue Nothing)

    • Main Theme: Veteran of the Psychic Wars (Blue Oyster Cult)

    • Alternate Theme: Get Together (The Youngbloods)

    • Alternate Theme: Liberi Fatali (FF8 soundtrack)

    • Alternate Theme: All the Small Things (Blink 182)

    • Alternate Theme: More Human Than Human (White Zombie)

    • Alternate Theme: Magic Carpet Ride (Steppenwolf)

  • Stage: The Wheels. They are a paired set of Ringworldish structures, about the size of Earth's orbit around the Sun. Jake created them centuries in the past as a mental exercise, and later put them to use as 'safe houses' for the rarer intelligent species. They are side-by-side rings around a star far from Sol, each about one million kilometers wide, with air walls about three thousand high at each side. Being rings, the horizon curves up, which is the thing that is first noticed by new visitors. The one used for his stage is the one that was permanently left about 70% complete, since Jake was still capable of being distracted in those days. The fight takes place next to a half-dry lake, and the huge gap in the Wheel is just barely visible far in the distance.

  • Weapons: Besides big claws and fangs, he occasionally makes use of a few real armaments...

  • Special Resources: The huge number of abilities stemming from having near absolute control over himself, such as...

    • Psychespace: One of his harder to explain abilities, he can store physical objects in his memory.

    • The collective knowledge of just about everyone who ever lived.

    • Too much more to list, really.

  • Openings: (With his special intros, there is only about a 50% chance that they will happen in place of a regular intro.)

    • 1st Round: As his opponent's intro starts, Jake teleports in. There are no special effects when he teleports... not a fade-in or a ripple. After taking his position, he smiles and says, "What, I'm supposed to show off?"

    • Standard: A more usual showy teleport, with the background twisting, then snapping back to normal, leaving him in its place.

    • Alternate, 30% chance: Jake is sitting crosslegged on his side of the screen, relaxed, with his eyes closed. The second before the fighting starts, he flips to his feet in an instant.

    • Alternate, 10% chance: Jake is already onscreen as it starts. He crosses his arms, and Hod appears at his back. It's not a symbol, it's the actual sephira of glory. Describing it isn't exactly possible, but it is sort of like staring into the Sun.

    • Vs. anyone whose first language is English, but uses something else in their intro: Jake states, "Lay lum lay ho wie yun wie mo yun ming bok lay?" The reply is generally, "..Huh?" He responds, "Doesn't sound so cool now, does it?" (That was Cantonese for, "You think you're so good because no one understands you?")

    • Vs. anyone with an intro that has an incredible display of their powers: Jake watches dispassionately. "Hm. Show off."

    • Vs. NeoVid: Glares at NeoVid before saying, "This is going to be idiotic..." NeoVid says back, "Ya got THAT right!"

    • Vs. Barrigostin: Jake looks very interested. "A deamon dedicated to redemption? Hmmm... there are some 'people' I should have you talk to."

    • Vs. Yuu: Jake shakes his head. "It's sad to see people who think they can't change..."

    • Vs. Replica: About the same look he gives Barrigostin. "At least someone here's learning..."

    • Vs. Drogn: Jake is allllmost amazed. Then he smiles. "Well, this is unique."

    • Vs. King in Yellow: Jake snorts. "If there's one thing I'm sick of..."

    • Vs. Epsilon: "There's a cure for people like you..."

    • Vs. Wyvern Neo: Jake smiles at the Wyvern and says, "I'm sure being a god is a nice consolation prize." Then he gives the Wyvern a tolerant pat on the head.

    • Vs. Skribulous: "Humans can even leave you behind... If they learn how."

    • Vs. Xachary: Jake's grin flashes, complete with *ping*. "Calculated chaos... now THAT'S impressive!"

    • Vs. Judgment: The background ripples as they stare each other down. Jake starts by saying, "So you're actually going to go through with this?" Judgment tenses his fists a few times, replying, "It's not because I think it's a good idea...."

  • Taunts:

    • Jake rubs his forehead. "Holding back..."

  • Finishing Poses:

    • Standard: Jake says, "I hope you learned something," before teleporting out.
    • Standard 2: Smirks and says, "Humani nil a me alienum puto..." Not many people know what the hell he's saying.
    • Standard 3: He sits down, lounging back... in midair. His gofer (Julius "Sticky" Goremykin, though I'm not going to say much about him) walks on, nervous. "I watched everything like you said, sir... but... uh..." Jake pats him on the head and tells him, "You'll figure it out."
    • Desperation: He watches the opponent drop down from whatever place they were smashed into, then says, "Direct action isn't my style... but it works."
    • Perfect: "You made the effort, at least..." Julius sticks his head into the picture. "I'm amazed, sir." "You shouldn't be."
    • Flash Finisher: Jake pulls the bit of Mirror off of his opponent, who falls. Jake absorbs the piece of Mirror, but after a few seconds he nearly doubles over and coughs up more of his own Mirror.

    • Draw: Watches his opponent thoughtfully.

    • Time Over: Same as Draw, but says, "Must say I'm impressed."

  • Victory Quotes:

    • "Not bad."

    • "I prefer creation, but I can do destruction if it's needed..."

    • "That was only a start."

    • "I represent all that's good about humanity. What've you got?"

    • Desperation: "Keep trying that hard and you could make it."

    • Perfect Victory: "...Disappointing, but expected."

    • Ultimate: "I didn't enjoy that."

    • Flash Finisher: "Let me restore your delusions."

  • Character Strategy: Jake doesn't like limiting himself, but his normal power level of 'one thought from him and there won't be a puff of smoke left of you' isn't going to get into any video game... That said, he's still got an array of moves for every situation, many of them multipurpose, and vicious. His speed is his only weak point, and with good strength, great range and three fighting styles it won't matter much. Add ways to indirectly cripple his opponents' fighting ability, and you end up with one of those 'unbeatable when CPU controlled, but hard to use in the hands of a player' secret bosses. If used well, he's just flat-out deadly with any strategy, thanks to his multiple styles, which let him fit any type of pattern by changing his normal moves entirely. Capoiera gives him insane comboability (and also looks damn cool). Hap Do Sool has quick striking attacks with high priority, making him into the biggest hit-and-runner around. If you're a throw maniac, just go for Grappling, which has slow normal attacks, but gives him a throw for every situation.

  • Attacks:

    • Launcher:

      • (For Capoiera: db+Roundhouse) Powerful handstand kick.

      • (For Hap Do Sool: b+Roundhouse) Back flip kick.

      • (For Grappling: df+Fierce) Good old Mortal Kombat-y inhumanly hard uppercut.

    • Command Normals:

      Style changes:
      [Capoiera]: (Jab+Short)
      [Hap Do Sool]: (Strong+Forward)
      [Grappling]: (Fierce+Roundhouse)

        [Capoiera only]

      • Headspin: Flips into a low handstand, and does a double-hitting spin kick. (b+Forward)(7%)

      • Clean Sweep: A two-hit sweep that has 360 degree coverage on the ground. (db+Forward)(9%)

      • Screwjob: Jumping downward side spin kick. Kinda hard to visualize unless you've seen it. Hits overhead and knocks down. (f+Roundhouse) (10%)

        [Hap Do Sool only]

      • Iron Splitter: Single hit overhead kick with way too much range. (f+Short) (7%)

      • Knee Lunge: Short jumping knee. If it connects, it continues into a straight kick. (8%)

      • Wheel Kick: Powerful spin kick at head height. Knocks opponent at least 2/3rds of the way across the screen. (F+Roundhouse) (10%)

    • Throws:

      • Pulse: Doesn't bother touching his opponent, but repels them hard enough to bounce them off the far wall. (f+Fierce) (7%)

      • Bludgeon: Again not bothering to hold onto his opponent, he hits them with a quick series of punches. (f+Roundhouse) (6%)

        [Grappling only]

      • Spinebuster: A forward falling slam. Yknow, a spinebuster. (b+Strong) (10%)

      • Giant Swing: Hold opponent by the ankles, swings them in a circle, then lets go. They fly a good distance afterward. (b+Fierce) (12%)

      • Overthrow: Just picks them up with one hand and heaves them wayyy up over his back, Zangief style. (d+Fierce) (6%)

      • Reverse Suplex: Like a standard suplex, but he falls forward, slamming his opponent face-down into the ground. (b+Roundhouse) (10%)

    • Specials:

      • Nalcon: His most standard fireball, it's a basketball-sized TK pulse that is only visible as rippling in the background. Since he makes no obvious indication he's using it, if you're on a one-color background, it's gonna be hard to avoid... (qcf+P) (8%)

      • Wild Bite: If you've got fangs that big, you're going to use them. This move is basically a copy of Long's from Bloody Roar 2... it opens with a fast pounce, changing range depending on the button. He gets his teeth into his opponent's shoulder (or head, if they're unlucky), flips over their head, and slams them into the ground with a snap of his neck. It hits overhead. (qcf+K) (10%)

      • Time Snap: Jake stands up straight, crosses his arms, and with a quick blur, appears almost instantly on another part of the screen. If his opponent is between him and the spot he's going to, it will cause 3 hits. Yes, it's a damaging teleport. Yes, it does redefine 'cheap.' (dp/rdp+all P/all K) (9%)

      • Teppodama: A big old pistol appears in his hands, he quickly sights in on his opponent with the gun in a good icosoles grip, and fires off one round (then a second if you do the followup) with a perfectly silenced *pop*. Goes at the speed of a bullet, not a fireball, and trades hits with other fireballs instead of cancelling them. Be glad for the Soul Calibur Contrivance, since 15mm rounds should leave meter wide tunnels through anything biological (yes, 15mm. If you don't know, an inch is 25mm. This gun uses ammo meant for tanks). (hcb+P, qcb+K) (6% each)

      • Moebius: Command throw. He puts one palm on his opponent's chest, then they... ripple. After a moment of that, he pushes them away, and all of their controls are reversed for the next few seconds. (hcf, b+K) (10%)

      • Distort: Like the previous move, but blockable and less effective. An area several feet across starts to ripple, and if his opponent is caught in that, all the commands for their special moves are reversed for a while. (hcb+K) (5%)

      • Chibi Bomb: Yeah, he's got a sense of humor. Jake gets out a little ball of white light, swings it around once, and tosses it in a short arc. If his opponent gets caught in the explosion, they're SDed and can't fight for a short time. Run. Fast. (rdp+P) (8%)

      • Collider: Jake pounds his fists together at chest height, and a column blast of white energy explodes from the ground, reaching to the top of the screen. A great move for defense, with almost no range. (qcb+P) (12%)

    • Supers:

      • Jan Ken Pon: Stone: It begens with Jake saying, "Jan... Ken... Pon... STONE!" and holding out one fist. Then, a rain of semi-transparent boulders crashes down on one half of the screen. Hard as heck to avoid, and does some good block damage. (qcf, qcf+P) (20%)

      • Jan Ken Pon: Scissors: "Jan... Ken... Pon... SCISSORS!" Holds his hand out in the scissors position, and a very large blade shoots across the screen. It travels fast enough that it can't be jumped without anticipating it. (qcb, hcf+K) (30%)

      • Jan Ken Pon: Paper: You can guess how this one starts. Paper is technically a throw. Better range than almost any unblockable, and it's a multipart move. After the standard start, a slab of the ground (even in the... strange stages) folds over, then flips upside down and shatters when it hits the ground... with the opponent under it, if they were on the patch of ground that flipped over. (hcb, hcb+P) (30%) The second part is...

      • Stump Puller: Jake reaches into the rubble with both hands, picks up his opponent, and throws them into the air. (dp+K) (5%) The final part is...

      • Volcanic Shot: Two ten foot wide globs of partly molten rock smash into the opponent from above and below. (hcf+P) (15%)

    • Desperation:

      • Pressure: Jake crosses his arms as a solid sphere of energy (only visible as a distortion of the background) starts to spread from him. It keeps expanding until it's about 10% larger than one full screen. His opponent will take varying damage depending on how soon they're caught on the leading edge, and how close what they end up being crushed against is. (qcb+All P) (45% max)

    • Ultimate Attack/Summon:

      • Farir Kalb (Empty Heart): Everything in the stage except Jake suddenly stops. The color starts to be washed out of everything, then the shades of grey in the background condense until everything except Jake (still normal) and his opponent (still in grey) has turned black-and-white. Then, everything shatters, collapsing on itself. Jake's left on a blank screen for a few seconds, then there is a swirl of color from the center of the stage, and everything unfolds back to the way it was. (Strong, Jab, Roundhouse, Short, Strong) (55%)

    • Flash Finisher:

      • Truth: Jake holds on to his opponent with one hand, and waves his free hand once, which is trailed by silvery stuff that you can see everything in if you look closely. The stuff is Mirror, a physical manifestation of the soul. Jake sticks a trace of his own Mirror onto his opponent's forehead, where it is absorbed. After being held up for a few moments, his opponent has their reaction, which varies depending on the person: from blanking and going limp to keeling over in violent convulsions... it depends on the strength of their idea of Self. This is an attack against the most basic illusion any person has: their own self-perception. No one is completely immune to seeing what they really are, or having someone else interfere with it...

    • Team Helper:

      • Distort.

    • Team Supers:

      • Exodus: Jake goes into a half-crouch, and his side of the screen gets an eye-hurting glow. Then a huge blue beam blasts onscreen, coming at a shallow angle, just high enough to go over his head. It's an orbital shot from an Exodus class starship, if you're wondering. Despite being a very big beam, its angle keeps it from going across the entire stage. It is useful since it'll pin targets instead of pushing them away.

  • Glitches:

    • Not yet.

  • Motivations:

Jake being nearly incomprehensible to anyone vaguely human, it's hard to guess. His general protectiveness toward life probably applies, and so does his love of doing anything he hasn't done before. He also likes to motivate people into bettering themselves, though he's subtle about that, unless they're a danger to others (NeoVid, Wyvern Neo...)

  • How Jake talks:

Whatever way will be best to communicate with whoever he wants to communicate with. Since any pretense of a human-scale personality from him is just that, pretense, he can change his manner completely whenever he decides to. He knows every language ever invented, and could learn a new one in seconds if necessary. Jake has a powerful tendency to philosophise, and to contradict himself when he does this. He'll explain that with, "Everything's true. Even 'everything is a lie' is true." Partly due to his arrogant standard cover personality, he doesn't seem to worry too much about making himself understood most of the time, though he limits himself to only using small amounts of non-contemporary language, often using 'bruh,' which probably comes from 'bro,' and would refer to the Wyvern as 'en' instead of 'it.' When he needs to communicate something very clearly and with no chance of misinterpretation, he'll put the entire concept in the recipient's head at once telepathically.
...And his voice sounds a lot like Barry White's. This is the only thing about his physical body that's rumored not to be natural. He won't answer questions about it.

  • How Jake acts:

The first thing to keep in mind is that Jake is a good person at the core, but is also superior to everyone in every way and realizes it.

The second thing no one in continuity really knows until he decides to show it: he reads everything in everyone's minds for miles around all the time.

He's never seen anything morally wrong with this, and never will. Keeping him out is probably impossible, due to his skill at evading mental defenses instead of fighting them. (what good would the strongest stone wall in history be against someone who can fit between bricks?) He refuses to change anyone's mind against their will, fortunately.

His morals are hard to guess at, though he has said he believes morality is in black and white, despite knowing what everyone sees as black and white is different. He has absolute tolerance of anything on the good side of the line, and a pronounced intolerance of anything that crosses it. This is most often triggered by those biggest of human failings: stupidity and violence. Though there's really no way to be sure what might make him take action, and what won't...

Jake can be extremely hard to reason with, the cause being that he already knows what you think on any subject, often more clearly than you do (due to having read every one of your memories seconds after meeting you), and so your words aren't about to make a difference to him... though he'll still listen to them.

Surprisingly, Jake likes being asked questions, because it's a mark of one of the things he most appreciates: a desire to learn. He'll generally answer any questions given to him (though when it comes to some things, no one can keep a secret like him). If someone is reluctant to ask something important, he'll sometimes answer it before they ask... mind reading, yknow.

It's rare for anyone to be intimidated by him. This is by his choice. It's the only form of mental influence he's willing to use on others without permission. Think of it as various types of Auras he can project by changing subconcious reactions.

Due to having concious control of about 93% (according to him) of his own mind, Jake has no reflexive, instinctive or involuntary responses of any sort, unless he wants to have them. In simple terms, that means everything he does is calculated. Since he can devote thought to every little action, he has an inhuman precision and grace to his physical motions, which contrasts with his informality. He mutes this most of the time, though.

Using his mental abilities is totally natural to him, to the point that he's more likely to use teke to pick something up than his hands. Ordinary TK and telepathy is just the base for what he can do. Jake learns everything he's capable of learning about other forms and uses of his abilities. One of his greatest strengths comes from knowing several different ways to do everything (teleportation, reality manipulation, magic... he knows several systems to each). His powers have developed to the point where he can control reality fundamentally, and when faced with someone else who can do the same, he'll generally figure out how to copy their variation of it.

He uses his Unsubtle cover personality to hide the fact that very few things he does are in plain view, or rely on direct force. The fact that the short description of his powers is "limited-range omnipotence" (maybe an area the size of a solar system, though whether that's his actual limit is unknown) means things usually go the way he wants, even though he's rarely seen interfering...
