A Message from Pastor Ruth

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30

Have you ever had a task that you just did not want to take on? It looms overhead like a black cloud or a mountain that you can’t see the other side of. Just beginning the job takes all of your energy and concentration but you bite the bullet and start. Day after day you plow through the work. Shovel full after shovel full the mountain disappears until the day finally comes that you can say: “it is finished.” This job that I dreaded so much is complete.

In the book of Genesis, sin entered the world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and since then sin has loomed over mankind like that black cloud or mountain that could not be tackled. But God had a plan all along to get the job done and set us free. He sent his Son Jesus Christ to come to earth, take on all of our sins on the cross and die in our place.

When Jesus proclaimed from the cross, “It is finished” the job was complete. The power of sin and death had been conquered. Jesus took everything upon himself which makes the job easier for us. All we need to do is believe what he has done for us and receive it. This Easter think about the fact that “It is finished” and celebrate that our sins are forgiven and that we have eternal life in Christ.

Have a Blessed Easter,

Pastor Ruth Blais
