Jennifer Meara, founder of Animal Instincts Pet Sitting And Dog Walking, was born in Springfield and lives in East Longmeadow, and has been "adopted" by countless homeless animals seeking a loving home. Prior to establishing Animal Instincts Pet Sitting And Dog Walking, she worked with a skilled nursing facility incorporating pets into the lives of the residents living there. Although she found this to be very rewarding, Jennifer's true calling was about to reveal itself to her.
The idea to open Animal Instincts came to Jennifer as she contemplated her own dilemma of finding an alternative to kenneling her pets while on vacation. She knew that she could convince a friend or relative to stop by to check on them, but realized they had busy lives and didn't want to impose. The idea of paying a neighborhood kid to do the job did not appeal as she worried about reliability. She sensed that her cats would be much happier and more comfortable if allowed to remain in their own home and was confident that other pet owners felt the same way. Hence...Animal Instincts Pet Sitting And Dog Walking was born in June 1998.
Jennifer has cared for a variety of pets, from dogs to Capuchin Monkeys, and just about everything in between. She is familiar and experienced with pets with special needs, including medications and injections. She resides in East Longmeadow with her husband, Scot and her step children, Bryan and Riley. She is "owned" by two dogs, Lucy and Madison.
