After the election of the General Superior, Brother Edward Driscoll became Vicar General, by virtue of election as first councilor. Brother Edward served in Bolivia after a term as President of St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Ky. Four additional Councilors complete the new leadership team: Brother Roger Demon from Belgium and Congo, Brother Victor Kazadi from Congo, Brother Lawrence Harvey and Brother John Hamilton.
Responding to the call of his Brothers, Brother Arthur leaves his urban ministry in Baltimore, where he has served for the past several years as Executive Director'bf the Bon Secours Maryland Foundation. In this effort he has facilitated comprehensive outreach to the inner city communities and the creation of substantial low rent housing for families.
He leads a Congregation committed to more fully realizing its international character, fostering more vibrant, personally and communally fulfilling community experience, and insuring ongoing spiritual formation, not only for the many young men in formation, but for all the Brothers. The leadership team will help the Brothers to continue to respond to the Calls of the 24th General Chapter, enthusiastically and emphatically reasserted by the 25th, to a contemplative stance in the world and to mission among the poor and the marginalized.
in his first four months in office, Brother Arthur has set a vigorous pace, evidenced by trips to Belgium, England and Africa as well as to communities in the U.S., which have allowed him to meet with over one hundred Brothers. Many challenges and opportunities lie ahead.
