Answering the Calls in Louisville

Brother Charles Leslie and Brother Ken McCarthy along with several other volunteers are members of the St. Vincent De Paul culinary team for serving three meals a day for the neighborhood homeless and hungry. Charles and Ken assist in the processing and distribution of the meals in an orderly and efficient manner. With the help of about a dozen cooks, assistant cooks, dishwashers and volunteers, the St. Vincent de Paul Open Hand

Kitchen serves approximately one hundred well-balanced meals to men, women and children, of all ages, races and nationalities, who come daily from all parts of the city. It is situated in the body of the former St. Paul Church, part of a complex which comprises general administration offices, housing for single men, single women, and women with small children. Brothers Charles and Ken are trying to live the beatitudes and respond faithfully to their Xaverian Call to mission among the poor and the marginalized.
