New Leaders

I. A Respected and Courageous Xaverian Brother Moves On

After more than 25 years of distinguished leadership, Brother Victor Kazadi-Lenge-Kipupo, CFX, Headmaster of Institut Tutazamie in Likasi, Congo, will leave his position. Director of the Communauté Notre-Dame de la Foi and former Regional Superior, Brother Victor will bring his many gifts and talents to other challenges of his congregation. Brother François Musongo-Kafindo, CFX, a native of Likasi, who holds his Licence (in English and for Headmaster) after studies in the Institut Supérieur Pedagogique in Lubumbashi, will assume leadership in Brother Victor's place.

A man of high principles in belief and action, Brother Victor is an esteemed religious among his Xaverian confreres and a man of courage. Institut Tutazamie (the word means: looking out with care), a government school, under his firm, courageous and wise direction, is perceived as outstanding in the city of Likasi. No school, given the complexities of human relationsand inherent conflicts that go with the difficult challenge of educating the young, succeeds without strong and wise leadership. In all its dimensions Institut Tutazamie reflects the presence of this Xaverian, regarded as a "wisdom figure" among his Congolese community

Brother François brings his own strengths to his new assignment. Nourished and supported by his congregation and in solidarity with his confreres, he brings his own reputation as a very fine student, fluent in English, to the task of educational leader. He owes much to the guidance of two mentors in particular, Brothers Joris De Groote and Placide Ngoie-Munanga. They, along with his entire international congregation, wish him and Brother Victor well in their new endeavors.

II. XBSS Administrators Orientation Program

In late June, Alice Hession and Brother Larry Harvey held a three-day orientation session for new administrators in the sponsored schools. In attendance was Ms Patricia Beckwith, the newly appointed principal at Holy Family High School in Birmingham. Also attending were new or relatively new assistant principals from Xaverian High School, St. Mary's Ryken High School, St. John's Prep and Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. The orientation

program provided them with some background on the mission and vision of Xaverian sponsorship, the role of the board in the governance of the schools and spirituality for the administrator. ___________________________
