Brother Fred Eid, CFX and His Art:
"Works in Progress"
|
The Malden Public Library was the location for a major one-man show, displaying over 30 years of works by Brother Fred Eid. A mathematics teacher and student advisor for 28 years at St. John's Prep and Malden Catholic, Brother "does art when he can." He started drawing as a youth, before formal study of art over the years at Boston College, Massachusetts College of Art, the Art Institute of Boston and the Museum School. He has worked in a variety of media: oils, pastels, charcoal and pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, photography and ceramics. His drawings celebrate the beauty of the human form and communicate the vitality and passion of the artist. Brother feels neither he nor his art is ever done. "Life is short. We do the best we can in the time we have"¾the best he can as a Xaverian Brother, teacher, friend, advisor, and artist. |
