Other News....
"Mom" Oliver 1927-2006
After a lengthly and difficult battle with cancer, one of the backbones of our assembly, Patricia Hussey, my beloved mom, passed away peacefully, and without pain on the morning of Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 8:30am.

Her cancer spread faster and more agressively than expected. Recent weeks became painful and exhausting, and Hospice care became a fixture in our home. Although this was difficult during this time, friends and family came, called and wrote to her. Several of you were also able to visit with her, and that made her and me, very happy. Unlike many who lose a loved one unexpectedly, she had the most beautiful opportunity for closure. We were all able to make peace with her, and more importantly, she left no unfinished business or worldly concerns behind. I was at her bedside, holding her hand as she passed, and we shared a beautiful moment together that I will cherish forever. Although this is a sad time for my family, the sadness will be brief, because her passing was so painfree and soft. And for that reason, and many others, happy memories will remain with us forever.

For those of you who had the opportunity to have met my mom, you know what a uniquely special woman she was. Since I don’t have any children of my own yet, several of you became her “adopted grandkids” through me, and she adored you as if youwere her own. You brought her joy. For that, I am forever thankful to you. “Mrs. Oliver” loved meeting with you, seeing you perform and sharing embarassing stories about me with your parents, because that’s what moms do. For those who never met her, I’m sad that you did not have the opportunity to know this wonderfully spirited, frequently blunt and direct, yet always loving lady.

You only get one mom, and I was happy to have been able to share mine with all of you in the S.Y.M. over the last 20 years. Thank you all for your love and support over the past several months. - David Oliver

"Leprechaun" Larry 1938-2006
Long-time supporter of our assembly, "Leprechaun" Larry Murphy, passed away from cancer March 18, 2006. Mr. Murphy was a retired court police officer, who loved magic and music, performing Irish pub songs and magic effects for free at nursing and retirement homes in the area for the past decade. He was a family friend of leader, David Oliver, and became a fixture at our March meetings, banquets and BBQ's, always bringing his guitar, his music and good cheer. He was made an honorary member of our assembly, and he cherished his time with us, as much as we cherished him. At our January awards banquet, a special surprise award and plaque were given to "Leprechaun" Larry for all of his years of support and friendship to S.Y.M. #29. He was loved by all who had the honor of knowing him, and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his family.

Tannen's Camp

(see above!) register early, it will fill up this yyear. And remember - it's been moved to PENNSYLVANIA! The 2004-6 camp results were listed on our homepage and since then, the file has been misplaced. But, in the meantime, read all the details from 2003, as well as the contest results from 2003 by clicking
