Zenobia A fantasy adventure game by Paul Elliott (aka Mithras) set in the Desert Kingdoms of the third century AD, during the fading years of the Roman Empire. Zenobia is a free RPG with more research put into it than most professional setting guides, and it's definitely a source of inspiration for anyone interested in setting-rich game design.

Memento Mori Theatricks Jared Sorensen's clearing house for games and things that are very nearly role-playing games but not quite.

The Nutcracker Prince Though sadly reduced to a pile of downloadable links in a half-forgotten corner of Clinton R. Nixon's website, The Nutcracker Prince is a fantastic game of clockwork technology, dream-like travel, and wild adventure, all wrapped up in a sort of proto-D&D3 system cobbled together from scattered hints on various D&D message boards.

Swashbuckler! Here's a fantastic little system that I've gotten plenty of play and inspiration from. It's worth picking up for its fun and creative dueling rules, though it desperately needs to be welded to an interesting setting.

And finally...

Gargoyle 13. Gargoyle 13 has no link. It disappeared years ago. In its day it was a clearing house for all sorts of fantastic, creative games, including such gems as Aedorea and Puppetland. Gargoyle 13 supported the games I wanted to make, and it's a shame that it's gone.
