Autumn Projects #4
Bird Feeder Sketchbook
See link below for Bird Feeding Tips!
If you are lucky enough to have a bird feeder, you can try drawing your visitors. They DO MOVE QUICKLY! So, how do you draw them? Here are a few very quick drawings I made, looking through the window.
- Do just an outline.
- Draw parts and put them together later: try to get the head, or the tail, or a wing.
- Try to draw the way they tilt their heads.
- If it's a squirrel, draw the tail in different positions.
- Birds move a lot, but they return to the same position over and over again. You can keep 2 or 3 sketches going at one time, and put more detail on them each time they move back into the right position.
- You can add a tiny bit of color to your sketches even after the birds leave. You can make a note on the page, or look them up in a bird guide.
P.S. From the birds!
