Beaded Elements By Marcellus Kitchens

Beaded elements by Marcellus B. Kitchens Welcome to the website of Marcellus Kitchens. Here you will find some of my bead work. I have been beading for about five years. It all began with a morning talk show and a fimo demonstration. I was fascinated by the idea that I could make my own beads. Since then I have not done much bead making of any kind , I guess I will leave that to the experts My goal for my beadwork is to make simple but elegant pieces of beadwork that are useful to the average person. I really do want people to like what I do.Beadwork is great because it allows me at to create some really nice things. We all can develop technical abilities, and with the right inspiration, create beaded jewelry that is beautiful, strong and durable.

The Dream

I would like to share an experience with you, it is the experience of creativity. About 4 years ago I was working on a bracelet. In those days there were not many classes on advanced bead classes in my area. So it was my habit to buy pieces of beadwork and try to figure out how they were made. On this particular project I had figured out how to make the bracelets but did not like the pattern on the original and could see what I did not like about the bracelet but I could not clearly visualize a better pattern. This was very frustrating. After many weeks of fruitless effort, I was no closer to my goal. Then one night while asleep I dreamed that I was in a large beautiful jewelry store and I was there to view some of my creations, beaded bracelets. There they were in endless variety they were everything I wanted my bracelets to be. In my dream I could touch them, examen them, admire them but it was as if, even thought they were my creations, they were not mine. I was there to observe the creativity of some other more creative.intuitive aspect of my own mind. When I awoke I was really inspired for a few minutes then my inspiration turned to anger when I realized that even though my mind during that dream had created all of that beauty, that on a conscious level I would not be able to create the beauty I had experienced in my dream. There was some vague remembrance of my dream but not enough to clearly guide me in my conscious creative efforts. In other dreams I have been amazed by the plots that rival even some of the best screen plays...wow! It is my goal to more directly tap into that source of creativity within. Day to day I see little fleeting glimpses of that inner creativity my work is the results of those little glimpses. Watch out when I hit the mother load!
