Joshua Davidson Pension File #S16099born April 1753, place of birth and parents names not given. He enlistedon the Monongahela River in PA, 13 Aug 1776 & served in Capt JamesMontgomery's & Van Swearingen's Cos., Colonels Aeneas Mackey's & DanielBrodhead's 8th PA regiment. Served as sergeant until the middle of April1779, when he was promoted to ensign & served as such until 20 Mar 1780,when he resigned his commission. During the service he was in the battlesof Bound Brook, Brandywine & Paoli. He was allowed pension on his application executed 8 Aug 1818 at which time he was a resident of Brown CoOH. In 1821 Joshua referred to his wife as aged 58 yrs but did not giveher name & no further data in this claim relative to her. On 3 Aug 1821 hereferrs to the following children, then residing with him.Jonathan, aged 34 yrs, Joseph, aged 28 yrs, Rachael aged 24 yrs, Nancy aged22 yrs. Joshua was living in Brown Co OH in 1832. When listing hischildren in this affadavit he states that his son Jonathan age 34 isentirely unable & incapable by reason of mental & bodily infirmities tocontribute to his support.In 1790 Joshua settled in Bracken Co KY. In 1807 he was a resident ofLewis Twp Brown Co OH on White Oak Creek. Joshua died in Brown Co OH andis buried there in Union Twp. It is conjecture that his parents areWilliam Davidson of Scotland and that his mother was Ellen Boehm. I havenever seen any proof of this.
