I don't remember specifically what these buildings all were, but they are all ruins that remain at the Qutb Minar Complex/Park in New Delhi. It is similar to walking around the Roman Forum in Rome and looking at the old ruins (not quite that old though--most of these I think are from the 13th century).
This is an iron alloy pillar. Legend says that if you can stand with your back to the pillar and reach your arms behind your back and touch your hands, you will have a lucky life. Unfortunately you can't try doing it any more, as they put a little fence around the base. This pillar was made in the 4th century and still has not rusted. (25 July 2002)
